It's less a hijacking than being in an escape room with a bunch of ultra-confident dopes. They've been arguing for hours.

That's a really good description of what we've been through for decades.

Richard Justice on MLB.com makes a prediction:

3. Noah Syndergaard will not be traded to the Yankees or anywhere else.

The Mets are going to wake up Wednesday morning and realized how close they are to being really good. The acquisition of right-hander Marcus Stroman from the Blue Jays means the Mets could enter 2020 with baseball's best rotation. Add those starters to a solid core of young position players, and Citi Field could be one of baseball's hottest tickets in ‘20. And hey, they aren't so far out of it (six games out of the second Wild Card spot as of Tuesday night) that a ‘19 run isn't out of the question just yet either.

Syndergaard said after the game that he 'has been in touch' with the front office during this process and that he expects to still be a Met after today.

The logical move is to not trade anyone. Wheeler can be signed to an extension. Play out the season and then go find some additional bullpen parts and a centerfielder in the offseason.

Rosenthal today in The Athletic:

[bLOCKQUOTE]There are industry rumblings that club officials view Syndergaard's makeup as an issue – they also talked about trading him last winter – and fear that Díaz cannot handle New York. If the two are not traded on Wednesday, the Mets can revisit talks during the offseason, when Syndergaard still will be under control for two more seasons and Díaz for three.[/bLOCKQUOTE]

So sorry that Noah is not a robot but someone with some brains and opinions (e.g. the post-Spring Training trip to Syracuse). We'll see if Jeffy treats him the way he treats pregnant employees.

Heyman: 'Doesn't seem like' Edwin Diaz is going to be traded.

Rays, Yanx, Astros in on talks for Wheeler

Ceetar: Heyman [or insert any other name] is a hack

I would love to see them call a press conference this afternoon and announce a surprise Wheelie extension. Fuckin A', that'd be awesome.

Imagine that.

But that doesn't happen for us.

Heyman IS a hack.

I mean, look, "doesn't seem like" is hedging his bets, meaning he knows nothing concrete, but knows spewing opinions about this stuff everywhere is literally his job.

Earlier everyone was crediting Sherman for cribbing news from Syndergaard's statements last night.

There's been constant talk about Wheeler, the consensus seems to be that there are various teams interested and none have reached the threshold Van Wagenen wants to make it worthwhile. The exact count of teams, at this moment, considering still talking to the Mets is not really news. When one of them makes a decision to go for it, THEN it's interesting.

I mean, you KNOW the Mets are using this conversation as a good gauge of interest in Wheeler, and what they value him at. Whether or not Wheeler himself thinks himself worth more if he can get some bidding going in the offseason is up to him.

Kinda lol'n at the Yanks inability to trick anyone into helping their rotation.

All the experts had Bumgarner gone like all month.

Last minute deals being tossed over the transom

Mike Leake (SEA) to the DBacks

Sherman (although consider the hack/source): Blue Jay Aaron Sanchez to Astros

ANNNNNND ... Zack Greinke to the Astos!!! (Rosenthal - but, you know)

Sometimes it does.

I read about his shampoo which he says is expensive. I've seen far worse;

I'm surprised they did nothing. At least a bullpen arm. It's an impressive starting 5, but after that jeez.

Wonder how Stroman will react the first time Familia (or Diaz, or Gsellman, or random Syracuse callup) chunks up a game on him?

He should use the same stuff I use: $1.99/vat
