So then why do they say "let's take two out of three"? It's dumb.

I agree, that's not the part I'm disagreeing about haha...

Oh I know. You're disagreeing with the part of my post that any other person would know by now is tongue in cheek.

I was taking you literally again.

Thanks for not calling me the village idiot, oh wait that's ....

Yeah, purple and gold isn't so great for hiding in shadows, but the TV show had it right. Like Donnie Osmond, Prince, and Magic Johnson, Barbara Gordon belongs in purple.

We're closing out the third series of Batman cards with a card featuring the star of the series -- Batgirl. Typewriter Chewing Gum will then be taking a brief hiatus. But we'll be back with a first look at the brand new fourth series real soon. Meanwhile, we've been up to our Bat-Ears in Batman history this whole summer. So much so that I couldn't help but pick up this terrific DVD boxed set of the Batman TV show.

Youse might think I'm a Bat-maniac, but truth be told, most of my Batman TV show memories are from my elementary school days, when I hero worshiped Batman for a while and probably ran around the house once or twice with the biggest bathroom towel I could find tied around my neck like Batman's big swooping cape. Didn't every superhero fan do that? If you're a fan, this boxed set is worth getting. The shows were remastered and the colors, rich and deeply saturated pop out of the TV like one of those Batman cartoon fight words. Zonk!. I couldn't help but notice how much the TV show was influenced by the pop art movement that had broken big by 1966. Delightfully absurd sets in brightly intense colors -- youse should check it out. We've also went on a cyber-hunt for a cool Batman T-shirt and in the process, discovered this hip t-shirt company that's new to me, but, I learned, was a big deal a few years ago -- name of the company is Threadless. They've got endless cool stuff and quite a Batman inventory. I'll post a few of my favorites and the links. One particular Batman T-shirt captures the essence of Typewriter Chewing Gum perfectly. But the T-shirt's a provocative attention-getter and to tell youse the truth, I'm not sure I have the balls to wear that shirt in public. But I'll pick up a few, nonetheless, for our terrific and loyal staff, who keep this show going. See youse soon.

Me too. And what a glorious game the Mets played today. I knew I was going to miss today's game so I taped it for later viewing. But I didn't watch my tape either because I didn't have the time so I settled for a coupl'a internet highlight packages. Great to see Lagares with the breakout offesnse. I've been down on him for a coupl'a years now. Understandably, right? We said we were gonna take a brief hiatus here at Typewriter, but we can't help ourselves. We stopped by the ol' Bat-offices just for some housecleaning but we decided to bring back the Batman Juan Lagares card in honor of today's hitting sensation. It's a Batgirl card and she's the star of the 3rd series so this all works out. Batgirl just might turn out to be the good luck charm the Mets need. Confy bashsed his 30th today, too, with a little help from Batgirl, I'd like to believe. Where does she come from and where does she go? We're all Batgirl this week. I'm still processing Edgy noticing that TV Batgirl's colors are also LA Lakers colors. Never thought of that one.

Re: I Give Up Day 2019

The Fat Lady may not be singing yet, but she IS clearing her throat.

It'd take a 4-game sweep of the DBacks at this point, which is highly unlikely.

I'd just like to say that it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that I'll be dating any supermodels in the next year.

If they sweep the Dodgers maybe you can 'date' two semi-supermodels

sometime this year. There a few do-nothings in Stockholm that owe us a

few favors and such.

Hey, it worked for Gary w/Lagares yesterday:

- Juan Lagares has never hit a Grand Slam in his career ... KABOOM!

- Juan Lagares has also never had a two-HR day ... KABOOM!

I'm not sure if there was so much as a single pitch in between the saying and the doing in either case.

My mind keeps going back to the thought that the Mets would be in much better shape right now if they had just won one of the three games against the Cubs at Citi Field a couple of weeks ago.

Fixed it for you.

This team fought hard for a long time with no safety net.

At the end of the day, these other teams are just better. Great individual efforts all around...and a lot of great pieces to build around going forward. It's just a matter of whether they will do it or not.

(They won't)

Oh c'mon. They have a .513 winning percentage. They're the '75 Mets, who had their own Cy Young award winner and HR title contender. But they weren't a playoff team. It's incredible how the Wilpons have lowered everybody's expecitations through their perennial incompetence so that everyone's goal is the stupid wild card game which would be fine if this were Kansas City instead of New York Cty.

Two first place finishes in thirty one seasons.

It's Fonebone Friday! We were supposed to be gearing up for the fourth series of Batman cards when we decided, instead, to go down memory lane.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48287082302_8d62894255_z.jpg>

Here's Wilmer Font's card. We're very fond of this card. Fond of font. It's #2 on the 1st series checklist, but it's the first Batman card we produced and we love it. It depicts the Batman cards exactly as we envisioned how these cards would look when we first set out on this ambitious undertaking to produce this set. But the set has evolved since its early days and quite frankly, we thought old Font needed an update, to match the Batman cards of recent vintage. So that's what we did.

Here's new Font.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48760559092_d3e9fd1c43_c.jpg>

And we had so much fun updating old Font that we're gonna be updating and tweaking a whole lot more of these cards. We'll post a few along the way, but not all of them. If youse wanna collect the whole complete set of Batman cards, youse are gonna hafta buy 'em at a store near you.

who's having otherworldly performances? Alonso and McNeil but like, Alonso is good and we knew that. Even if this is otherworldly, there's no reason to not expect worldly next year.

I'm not ready to play fantasy offseason yet, not really my thing anyway, but this was expected to be a mid-80s team, and seems to be headed that way. If you believe some in the talent of some of these guys, it's easy to see where they're good next year.

Hell, it's easy to think the juiced ball and specifically the damage to the slider as a whole affected the Mets more than other teams, in how it hit Thor and Diaz.

There's a lot of talent on this team. They gotta replace Wheeler, but most of it's staying put. Brodie has roughly a billion different things he could do to improve this team too.
