Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Let's keep it going guys!Wheeler versus Newcomb. Newcomb's a lefty. 1.64 ERA. But hasn't faced Pete Fucking Alonso yet.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Fuck, sportsbook told me Wright was starting for ATL? Newcomb tomorrow?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Zack Wheeler (0-1, 10.24 ERA) vs. Braves RH Kyle Wright (0-1, 4.35)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I was speculating yesterday (in the KTE) that the Braves might skip the rookie Wright and go directly to Newcomb due to their snow-out in Denver on Wednesday. But I guess not, so that means we'll likely see Newcomb and Teheran over the weekend and miss the lefty Max Fried (pronounced: Freed) this time around.Wright had four relief appearances at the tail end of last year including a one inning stint vs the Mets on 9/26 where Conforto and Dom hit solo HRs off him in an eventual 3-0 NYM winThis season he's made two starts: 3 earned on 2 hits plus 5 walks in 4.1 IP in Philly (L); 6.0 innings, 2 runs, 5 hits, 1 BB vs Marlins (ND)
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Author Posted April 12, 2019 Sorry guys! ESPN had it wrong I guess.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 After winning last night, this becomes BIG GAME. Tomorrow we have Vargas and on Sunday, a pissed-off deGrom. Sneak tonight's game and we have a good shot at 3-out-of-4 and an outside shot at a sweep if Vargas doesn't get his tits lit.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Big feller getting the night off at 1B. I like McNeil/Rosario at the top, they're both hitting more than Nimmo of late.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Well, in fairness, deGrom is hitting more than Nimmo of late.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I'm thinking it's Cano who needs a night off.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Here's to an effective lineup and to bunting against the shift.Way to go, McNeilio.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 That's the way, Canó.I was getting ready to take away Willie Mays' number for him and give him Willie Harris'.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Mets giving the Braves' gun-running rightfielder a lot of chasing work.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Let's see if Wheeler can deal with all this prosperity.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Nice play by Swanson robs Rosario.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Dom Smith might be playing for a roster spot.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Gary bringing us a Jane Jarvis reference. I feel like it's Christmas.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 This game is great. I love the 2019 Mets so far, they hit, they pitch, they manufacture runs. It's like they are trying to be good or something.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 (edited) Plus, there's always at least one dangerous pinch hitter lurking on the bench (Alonso, e.g.).Lineup looks a lot stronger top to bottom like this, doesn't it? This is a pretty deep, versatile offensive team. (Consider: neither Lowrie nor Cespedes has seen the field yet.) Edited April 12, 2019 by Guest
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 He went somewhere?Cripes, people-- he had a bad WEEK.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Minter's beard is a little extra, as the kids say. It's like face turf.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Not crazy about Lugo for a second inning here, but they don't have a lot of options.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Fine with it. And hey-- it worked!Drama-free and loving it.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Yup. Let Lugo pitch the non-existent 10th for all I care.
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 I really like beating the Braves.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Nice win first place is the best place.
