LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Playing lefty-righty, four runs down?Say what you will for Dave Martinez-- he hasn't mentally checked out of the game.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Wander Suero sounds like something you'd get from a Tijuana pharmacy for a bad case of wanderlust.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 What a great looking lineup we have this year
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 If the Mets hold on, I'm calling that walk by Rosario the TURNING POINT OF THE GAME.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Park is about 70% Mets fans right now. They were chanting J-e-f-f, Jeff, Jeff, Jeff for McNeil (or maybe it was Wilpon).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Let's not go right to Diaz with a five-run lead.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 But if he's warmed?Ladies and gents-- your revamped Nats pen.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Or a seven-run lead.Remember last year, when the team opened 11-1, but we all suspected it was unsustainable because they were getting a remarkable number of two-out hits?Well, I'm not thinking about that right now.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Remaining Nats fans put their seat backs and tray tables in the upright and locked position.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 This is Red Sox/Yankees slow and long baseball.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Jeez just end this thing

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Um, maybe Lugo needs a few days off, Mickey. 7-run lead turns into a save situation. Grr.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 1 pitch save. Booooooooooks

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 We won, but, why does Mickey not pinch run for Ramos. Unreal
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Author Posted March 30, 2019 This was the third 11-8 victory in Mets history. The previous two were historic:• September 2, 1972 at Houston: Mets trail, 8-0; forge largest comeback in club history.• June 30, 2000 vs Atlanta: Mets tie club record with ten-run eighth to overcome 8-1 deficit at Shea, capped by Piazza's three-run laser off Mulholland.Today was also very nice.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 This is really only the 3rd 11-8 game ever? Amazin'
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 In other years I would have thought the game was lost after the Nats tied it up.This year, for some reason, I was sure they'd go ahead again.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I can't believe that Gary Cohen didn't know about Rick Ownbey's Frisbee skills.Of course, he also doesn't know how to pronounce "Jeurys".
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 Can't really IGT during the day but I woke up from my nap with the 4-4 score and watched all the fireworks. Good stuff, though I think Mickey left Lugo in too long.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 (edited) - Yes, d'Arnaud is on the shelf to start the year.I still would have pr'd for Ramos there. Turned out to not matter although it looked for a while like it might when WR couldn't go 1st to 3rd on the single.Third catcher or not, you can't be afraid of the 'what if' scenario of the backup getting hurt in the final two (or more) innings. Don't recall Mickey being shy about that last year so maybe he had a reason for this one. Damned if I can figger out what it was though.- OK, it's official: Alonso is one big strong boy. That he also seems to have an idea of what he's doing up there just makes it better.First double was impressive; second one even more so. He also went chasing after a couple of outside sliders which, unless he proves he can lay off those, is something he'll see a steady diet of starting ... like tomorrow and every day after that.- Not really sure why Mickey went to Lugo when he did.Not that Familia looked great, but 22 pitches wasn't horrible especially considering that he should have been out of the inning. And wouldn't you think Lugo is more likely to give up a HR than Familia ... y'know, one bad curveball?3 HR last year in 70 innings for JF (1 as NYM, 2 w/OAK) but 22 HRs for Lugo in 2017-18 combined, or about 200 IP. And you had to know Adams was coming in to PH with just that on his mind. That one is six rows deep in Philly, and 16 rows in the Bronx- 3:50 game time ... Ugh! Edited March 30, 2019 by Guest

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I'm also WERRIED about Syndergaard. Gave away 2 three run leads, and probably should have been worse. If Robles doesn't get picked off, forget it.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I think the reluctance about pinch-running for Ramos is about losing his bat if the game remained tied or stayed close.I think today's managers are always ready for a war of attrition and always want to have one minors weapon in the bag than the other guy.
