The Mets are "ready to entertain trade offers for virtually everyone" on the roster, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
According to Rosenthal, the Mets would prefer to hold on to Brandon Nimmo, Michael Conforto, Robert Gsellman, and Seth Lugo, and would be more open to trading Noah Syndergaard than Jacob deGrom.

I would hate trading either of the two big guns, honestly, along with Nimmo/Conforto and probably Rosario/Smith, but pretty much everyone else is fair game.

I wonder if the Mets sudden willingness to trade deGrom or Syndergaard is based mainly on the owners' cheapness and reluctance to have to pay these guys what it would likely take to keep them?

I'm not interested in blowing up the whole ship and waiting 3-4 years to see
some results. I'm going to be 56 this summer, don't want to wait until my 60's
for the Mets to be competitive again.

hey guys, that's because the draft is over. That's the unofficial start of trading season. The Mets are not good right now. They'd be dumb not to listen to fucking anything.

Two game winning streak, Mr. Optimism.

There's always listening going on. But, if they start moving giant pieces

Sure, but that's like saying I'm going to San Francisco every time I cross the George Washington Bridge westbound. You can see the road that goes there but there's roughly 42 billion different directions to go before we're actually there.

a leaked rumor that they wouldn't hang up on someone inquiring on some of their core pieces is so far removed from "fielding an AA team while only 6-7 out in July" it's comical. Those things are so far apart.

deGrom is by far the best piece we have to move and would be the most attractive to suitors. I'd want a haul back, but I'm not opposed to moving him.

His talent is wasted on this team. If they can't compete, they might as well get something for him.

Agree. I would *hate* this so very much. But I agree.

We're just wired differently, and it's nothing like a taking the GWB to SF and 52
billion other things analogy. At least not to me.

His talent is wasted on the 2018 team. But I want to think that the Mets will make themselves better for 2019 and 2020, and I want deGrom and Syndergaard to be part of that.

man, I thought the road analogy was perfect.

As Branch Rickey said to Ralph Kiner: "We finished last with you, we can finish last without you."

I imagine nothing is imminent.

Are options being explored? Certainly. And is a teardown one of those options? It has to be, as where they will be on July 30 is up in the air. If they weren't looking that option, they wouldn't be doing their jobs.

But I'm rooting like hell for deGrom to win tonight, get a contract extension tomorrow morning, and never pitch in any uniform that isn't a trademarked with the Mets.

The Mets are more likely to be sellers than buyers. Who, exactly, is surprised by this?

Which GM doesn't listen to every offer that comes his way? That doesn't make you inclined to accept any of them, but how is it not in your interest to know what other teams want and whom they're willing to part with?

As far as blowing the team up is concerned, you need to make a realistic assessment of how soon you can contend. If you think you can contend next year, that affects what kind of deals you will make. If you think the team is sunk past the time you have control over DeGrom and Syndergaard, that will affect what kind of deals you make.

Personally, I'm optimistic. Any of the free agents should be available, and their value is greater if you move them now as opposed to in July. The only other player I think is necessary to move is Bruce, because I don't see any optimistic scenario regarding people being healthy that doesn't put him on the bench.

You need more seasoning. Eventually it sounds like a Bach sonata, but you have to earn your way to that point.

DK, I hear you!

I'm 59 and maybe can get one more

Blow it up. Tired of the shit show of Nick Satin types

Ace pitcher to MFY's for Miguel Andujar, Estevan Florial and Clint Frazier

I don't understand the calls to blow up the team. It's going through a horrible stretch, but it's also lost its all-world outfielder and Opening Day starter to injuries, along with a host of others.

Meanwhile, we have young, budding stars in Conforto and Nimmo and two elite starters. Rosario has not knocked anyone's socks off, but he hasn't even had a full year in the majors yet. We need to fill some holes and stay relatively healthy.

This was one of the excuses last year and the team has has its share of injuries both in 2017 and 2018.

However, if the best players can’t stay on the field and/or if the rest of the team can’t tread water while the stars are on the mend, then it is my opinion that the team is not going to be good enough.

I'm not so sure the Mets should tear it down. They seem to be in a tough place: not good enough to compete for first place, but probably not as bad as their recent abominable play. They're certainly not as bad as the Cubs and Astros were when they tore it down. On the other hand, Bruce, Cabrera Frazier and Cespedes are likelier to get worse rather than better -- they've all reached their decline years or are about to. That's half the lineup. And the Mets either can't or won't get an impact free agent to bolster their youngsters. Which they'll surely need to compete for the division unless you wanna hope for the sucker's game where everybody improves and everybody plays to their ceilings and nobody backslides.
