Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 It was 41 years ago todayThe Mets traded Seaver awayIf that wasn't enough to make you sadThe Kingman trade was equally badSo let me introduce the threadIn which we'll realize that the Mets are deadSgt. Mickey's Shitty Baseball Clan!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Every year, when I notice that it's June 15, my first thought is of Tom Seaver being traded to the Reds. But then, a moment later, I recall it's also the day that Keith Hernandez came over from the Cardinals.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 We're Sgt. Mickey's Shitty Baseball TeamIt's hard to hit and field and throwWe're Sgt. Mickey's Shitty Baseball TeamWe're old and we are white and slow!
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Miserable day for the Mets!Another thing that was odd about the old trade deadline was that you didn’t just have to get the deal done, but you had to get the player physically with the team by midnight. At least I think that was the case.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I'm embracing the west coast swing, it gives me more of a reason to miss 2/3 of these awful games, without feeling like I am forsaking the team or my fandom. I mean, I need SLEEP, I got stuff to do!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I'm trying to see progress. Two weeks ago, it was, "Hey, the starting pitching has really stabilized, and the bullpen is, you know, less bleedy."Last night, it was, "Look, they scored in multiple innings for the first time in living memory, and any good game for Rosario needs to be celebrated, because it could be a corner turned."In two or three weeks, they might be ready to win a game or two.

Gotta figure they string some of this stuff together soon. Tired of the Seaverversary notes every year. As played out as the Bonilla and Seinfeld bits.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 That's because you're too young to remember. June 15, 1977 was the Mets version of December 7, 1941.

The franchise icon ripped from the team for no reason other than spite and hubris from the management. It was betrayal.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 What would you do if we bat out of turn?Would you stand and turn off the TV?We'll give you a start of 11 and one Then we'll up and we'll lose 33We'll lose ties and catch hell from the fansDrop flies and catch hell from the fansPull thighs and catch hell from the fansDO YOU NEED ANYBODY?!We'll claim anyone with a gloveCOULD IT BE ANYBODY?!Just a bat and some spikes and a glove

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 I feel like Bautista should have scored on that drive to left.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 cant really fault them sending Bautista there with the pitcher coming up.
