Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Look at that defense. All Bruce needs to do is bunt. He'd be safe nine times out of 10.He's not in a big slump. Everybody's flooding into the right centerfield gap where he hits it.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Miserable way to start a tough homestand so far.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 You know, the Mets are just a miserable team to watch. I’m finding I really don’t enjoy these games at all. Frustration. Disgust. I honestly don’t know why I watch.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I watch because it's what I do. I'm not miserable, the way this game is going is quite miserable though. #lgm #ygb #bbbyyy
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Oh right. That’s why I watch. I love this kid.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 For now. In other news, Bautista not good.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Does he literally not have another pitch?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 And as I type, he throws a flat slider.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 G. Bautista should be in AA or AAA learning how to pitch.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 1. Play Nimmo everyday2. Have faith that Noah, Jake etal will as a group will be ok3. We are not as bad as we look now, or as good as we looked earlier4. Be hopeful Ces plays more games than not5. Most teams in the NL are just not very good, so there is that.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Boy this game went to shit.Robles has given up 16 HRs in 71 innings since the start of 2017. So, that sucks.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 So if the plan was for Lugo to only go 4 innings, then you have to have someone ready to step in and pitch multiple innings to follow. That someone can’t be Hansel Robles. Leadoff walk. A 2 run HR. So predictable. You look at the arms in that Cub bullpen and it’s disheartening. We are not on the same planet as these guys. And we get Wheeler tomorrow. It never ends.

Binghamton lost 11-10 last night and Las Vegas lost 20-3.Actually, they might just be too weary - period.Think of all the running they did to back up third.Later

Yet Sandy ("8 and 8 is great") Alderson does nothing but add players that have been discarded by other teams and recycle the same players in and out of the bullpen.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Well, Robles did pitch three scoreless innings the other day, so a scoreless inning from him isn't nearly as impossible as you suggest. And I'd hardly say that we're exclusively seeing the same people come and go from the bullpen. There's been a long string of unfamiliar names appearing in relief for the Mets recently.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I don't particularly have a concern for the bullpen. Pulling a pitcher after four innings when he's throwing a shutout against the second-best-hitting team in the league and replacing him with a succession of pitchers from the back end of your staff is a losing strategy all day, every day.As is insisting on hitting into the shift, and not telling Rosario a strike when you're down four in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, and the tying run is on deck.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
