Jose Quintana, Southsider-turned-Northsider, takes the hill for the Cubbies. Quintana is 5-4, 4.78 this season, and has had two starts against the Mets, with nearly identical stat lines:

5/30/16 with the Sox: 7 innings, 6 hits, 1 run, 2 walks, 7 strikeouts --> http://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=8754
9/12/17 with the Cubs: 7 innings, 6 hits, 2 runs, 1 walk, 7 strikeouts --> http://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=9011

Cespedes has destroyed Quintana, but that won't help tonight. Bautista is 2-22 with both hits being home runs, however.

EDIT: It's not Michael Conforto Jersey Night, though! That's tomorrow.

Fgirl, watching the game with me last night, sees the promo for the Conforto jersey: "Dad, that's Michael Conforto!"
Me: "Yep."
Fgirl: "I recognized him even before they said who it was."
Me: "Is that because you think he's cute?"
Fgirl: "He's OK I guess."
Me: "Why, who's the cutest Met then?"
Fgirl: "Mr. Met, duh."

She is still mad that deGrom cut his hair. She has not found a new favorite since then from the current roster.

I look at the Cubs on paper, and I wonder how they aren't 20 games in front. The only passable answer is that the rotation has underachieved.

No matter how well you think you set things up, there are 29 other teams and the Devil out there trying to fuck your shit up.

La stagione è lunga e dura.

It's the last day of May, and as things stand right now, going into the final game of the month, there's a very tight race for Schaefer Player of the Month. The players in first and second place, based on votes cast thus far, are separated by only 0.41 points.

If Gary Cohen mentions this on tonight's broadcast, we'll know for a fact that he reads this forum.

Luis Guillorme is looking like our thirdbaseman for the time being.

And Amed Rosario is trying to sneak up the batting order.

Jay Bruce at first gets Nimmo, Bautista and Conforto in the lineup!

But it means that Jay Bruce is in the lineup (I know that there is no one else to play 1st with Flores).

Adrian Gonzalez playing first with Bautista/Conforto/Nimmo in the outfield achieves the same result. Better defense too.

Slap! Slap!
Snap out of it!
You're being logical again Mr. Spock.

Gary: José Bautista, who is probably the hottest batter in the lineup since he arrived, is hitting out of the three-hole.

Edgy: NIMMO has been the hottest batter in the lineup!

It's so hazy, that in the long shots, it's hard to tell who is in the field. Both teams look like they are wearing gray.

I wish that Hansel Robles would tweet something awful about Valerie Jarrett so the Mets could fire him.

The way pitching is 'done" in MLB is horrid.

Horrid in the sense that, for me, the entertainment value of 2018 baseball is piss poor. Analytics blow chunks.

13 friggin pitchers rosters

5-6 pitchers per team per game

4 hour games

Yeesh, it is supposed to be fun fun fun til daddy takes the t-Bird away

Lets go Mets!

I think that my opinion of Callaway has fallen from “not the genius he was made out to be” to “dumb”.
