  1. My son'll be happy. He got Royce's autograph at spring training and has been asking me all year if he's gonna come up.
  2. One benefit to having such a great lead in the division is that I can watch a game like last night's with my 9 year-old son, enjoy the whole game then watch the 9th inning and see Wagner give up a game winner. Instead of my son getting really upset and me throwing the remote at the wall - the two of us turn to each other and calmy say 'that sucked', turn off the TV and move on.

I always thought it might be fun to enter a tournament but after you see the movie there are two things you realize. 1 - These people are professionals. They finish Saturday puzzles in about 10 minutes flat - tops. That's just completely so far out of my league. 2 - Shoving bamboo shoots under my fingernails would be preferable to spending any time in a room alone with any of them.

  7. Saw this on Saturday night. If you are a NY Times crossword puzzle addict (as I am) its quite interesting. It focuses on the annual crossword puzzle tournament sponsored by the Times and its resident 'enigmatologist' and crossword puzzle editor, Will Shortz. Included are cameos and interviews by people like Bill Clinton, Jon Stewart (very funny of course), Daniel Okrent, Mike Mussina, The Indigo Girls etc. I liked it but recommend it only if you are a crossword puzzle fan
  8. I may be off a little but for what is worth check this out: Money guaranteed in 2007 to highest paid Yankees and Mets: ARod - $27,000,000.00 Jeter - $19,000.000.00 Giambi - $18,000,000.00 Mussina - $17,000,000.00 Johnson - $16,000,000.00 Abreu - $15,500,000.00 Damon - $13,000,000.00 Matsui - $13,000,000.00 Rivera - $10,500,000.00 Posada - $9,000,000.00 [u:abaa3c4a0d]Pavano - $8,000,000.00[/u:abaa3c4a0d] Total = $166,000,000.00 Delgado - $14,400,000.00 Martinez - $14,000,000.00 Beltran - $12,000,000.00 Wagner - $10,500,000.00 [u:abaa3c4a0d]LoDuca - $6,250,000.00[/u:abaa3c4a0d] Total = $63,650,000.00 I don't remember what Glavine's deal is and of course there are other players under contract to these two teams for next year and we all know that the Yankee payroll is astronomical, but its just interesting looking at these numbers.
  9. Merci beaucoup!
  10. I used to have a link to a site that had player contracts - how much, how long for each player, but somehow I lost it. Any one have a link to anything like that?
  11. I voted Jose but lotsa big hits from David.
  12. 2007: Abreu - $15,000,000.00 Damon - $13,000,000.00 Matsui - $13,000,000.00 That's just the outfield.
  13. I don't know about anyone else but no offense taken on my part. For the record - although I said I would continue to boo him this year, I haven't and I haven't heard many other people booing him this year, other than maybe the opening week. Well, pretty much because there hasn't been any reason to. Last year's under-performance was boo-worthy but obviously booing him at any point this year was not only wrong but stupid. I still don't think athletes of his caliber and earning prowess should be so sensitive about it but I'm willing to kiss and make up.
  14. Thanks. I'll be here all week.
  15. Edgy DC wrote: Basically, anybody who has booed Beltran should really be wearing an apologetic tee-shirt by now... Oh please. It's you guys (and Beltran) who should be thanking us boo-birds for shaming him into having the knd of year he's having!
  16. Yes. No question about it.
  17. I gave it 2 stars. The first one was much, much better, this one was too long., the special effects/makeup were out of this world however.
  18. 'petit' theft All of a sudden we're in France?
  19. No contract no trade. Makes no sense without the extension.
  20. I say yes if Zito agrees to a contract before the trigger is pulled. If not., no.
  21. ="duan"]if you've got ANY kind of access to the subway you'd be mad to travel any other way. Wellll, there is another way. I played hooky yesterday and went to the game. 3 friends and I planned this at the beginning of the summer and yesterday we did it. One of our friends has a 26' foot boat in South Norwalk CT. Yesterday we sailed it down from there and docked it at the World's Fair Marina which is across the street from Shea. The trip was about 30 miles and took us about an hour and a half. After the game we sailed back home. It was an excellent day all around. The cost and usage of gas makes this only a once a season excursion but still we enjoyed ourselves so much that I think we're going to try and make it an annual thing.

I knew Tirico as an undergrad at 'Cuse and am still in touch with people that know him. There were several sexual harassment complaints that were lodged against him and he was suspended more than once because of them.
  23. silverdsl wrote: Some of the talk, which I won't repeat because I have no idea how true it is or not, indicates that he was fired for some very ugly reasons. I would guess we will hear more about this shortly. If we promise to agree that its just 'talk' will you tell us? Or at least point us in the direction to see for ourselves...? OE: Thanks MFS.
