  1. Semantics.
  2. Don't assume anything.
  3. It's actually kind of cool. Think I can buy one somewhere or do I have to commit a crime?
  4. Good N' Plenty Gooden Guilty
  5. Dwight Gooden and Choo-Choo Charlie The Engineer played together in A ball. Does that count?
  6. Don't forget Monkey Strange.
  7. "One (1) Grand Prize Winner and three (3) guests will receive: a meal with Willie Randolph (Approximate retail value is $400)..." Well if it is Subway then it's definitely going to be a lot of meat.
  8. Yeah sounds fun but those 'contests' always want too much personal info - phone number, email, birthdate. What's that you say? "By checking this box you agree to allow Champion Mortgage to contact you for promotional offers by telephone or mail. If you have subscribed to (i) your home state's do not call list; and / or (ii) the Federal Do Not Call Registry, Champion Mortgage will not contact you by phone. If your name and address are registered with the DMA and/or the KeyCorp Internal Do Not Solicit List(s) Champion Mortgage will NOT contact you by mail." So all I have to do is check the box and you won't call me or solicit me by mail? What box do I check to insure that you don't sell my info to telemarketers and spammers? Hello? Are you there? Yeah, didn't think so.
  9. I know he wore 17 but when he first came to the Mets he was 16 and for some reason that's always how I thought of him - 16. ="Centerfield"]Isn't soupcan our captain? I think he should have to wear that hat. No, no, no - I respectfully resigned that position some time ago. And if I hadn't - the wearing of that hat would've made me do it anyway.

7 Year-old Boy Permitted To Choose Own Guardian August 30, 2006 Roxbury MA (AP) - A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Boston courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy informed the court that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Boston Red Sox, whom the boy firmly believes is not capable of beating anyone.

  13. Hodges or Murphy Field at (insert ever changing corporate name here) Stadium. I vote for MetLife to be the first corporate sponsor. It just seems natural.
  14. Is that the kid that was suspended for 50 games?
  15. Yeah really - Go Pods! If the Mets play the Padres I'm in Petco for at least 1 or 2 of those games. Any excuse I have to go 'visit my dad' in San Diego, I'm going.
  16. No thank you. If the pitching starved Red Sox don't want him then why should the Mets take him?
  17. Ochoa?
  18. Turk Wendall. OE: Oops, was from Pittsfield, didn't play for them.

That was basically the party line coming out of Fenway last week. Theo's exact words included something to do with not looking to build an 'uberteam' - talking about passing on Abreu - and keeping the young pitchers - particularly Lester and Hansen. I recall Sox management saying this past spring that they were not necessarily looking to win this year anyway. The media up there still believes that the Sox will make a huge push for Oswalt in the off-season, possibly continuing their pursuit of Andruw Jones to that end.

I was up in the Boston area last week including the weekend of the 2006 Boston Massacre. Listening to WEEI (Boston's equivalent of WFAN) it is apparent that the only player escaping the fans wrath for this season's fold is Papi. There were calls for the beheading of everyone from Theo to the groundskeeper. Not Papi though, they just adore the big guy. The funniest thing though was after the 5th loss to the Yankees last Monday, it was like 'How 'bout them Pats?'
