  1. ="smg58"]but he's still a HOF pitcher and he's been our most consistent starter the second half. What good is that when he throws a stinkbomb like he did last night? Not against the Braves, not against the Phillies, not against the Cubs. Against the Nationals. 'We're giving the ball to Tommy tonight because he's a crafty veteran who knows what to do in these situations...blah, blah, freakin' blah...'
  2. Wasn't Soler's debut a 1 hitter in 'Zona? I'll sign up for one of those.

    Okay

  4. Edgy DC wrote: First loss of the second half. Send him home, you've got to send a lot of guys with him. First loss but not the first bad outing at crunch time. I know I'm being irrational but you know what I'm talking about. Tell me you didn't feel good knowing that it was Glavine last night. Knowing that we had our veteran guy who even without his best stuff would know what the situation called for and would somehow muster up the effort that the Mets needed last night. I was just so disappointed.
  5. ...just pissed me off last night. If there was ever a time for a first ballot Hall of Fame 300 game-winning veteran of a staff to 'show up', then last night was it. I don't want to hear that 'it was just one of those nights', or 'I just didn't have my stuff'. Please. That team, again, is the weakest hitting team in the bigs and they ran roughshod over him from the get-go. If Gavine gives up 3 runs over 5 innings then the Mets win that game. Not a lot to ask of him at that point you know? Go home Tom, retire already. In my mind he pulled a Trachsel last night. Now lets say the Mets do get in the postseason and Glavine spins some wunnerful games. That's all well and good but I'm soured on him from here on in. I really thought that he, of all people, would take charge of that game last night and he let all Met fans down. Hard.

    Okay

Wow. I guess I really need to read more and post less.
  7. soupcan

    Okay

I love to see Humber toss a gem tonight then go over to Glavine and say 'Eat me.'

  9. ="SteveJRogers"]If you feel that way Soupy, then I'll just continue your themed album covers Appreciate the effort, Steve-a-rino, but you're kinda missing the point. It's about showing the number...
  10. Johnny Dickshot wrote: I broke my Sarcasm Detection Machine earlier tonight. Are you inspired by this team or disgusted? I really can't tell. I mean, I think you're a softy on this bunch, but you're also proud of your long history as an abusive booer. So I don't know. I was not being sarcastic in the least bit. I have booed, I do boo, I will boo in the future but I would stop short of labeling myself as 'abusive'. I'm just not sure what clinching anything is going to do at this point. If they can't hold the Nationals to less than 10 runs a game what can we realistically expect from them in the playoffs? I want the Mets to get there but then I'm asking myself why.
  11. Does it really matter what the sorry ass magic number is if this sorry ass team is going to continue to get bitch slapped by a team with the worst offensive stats in the majors? So fucking what if they make the playoffs? they'll continue to pitch like this and they'll be done before I eat my second hot dog during Game 1 of the first round. Right now I see no reson to celebrate the fact that this team, despite their best efforts, is inching towards the playoffs. Its a joke. And its not a very funny one at that. Hey Tom Glavine, you suck.
  12. This team, the Mets, that all you guys like and root for? They fucking suck and I hate them.
  13. Interesting angle.
  14. Why would you discount LoDuca's tutelage?
  15. LoDuca gets a bit pissed off when asked about the card-playing coach. Click on the first interview at the top of the page.
  16. A kid came to my door almost two years ago selling magazine subscriptions. He was a nice kid so I bought a few from him even though he represented no magazines that I read at the time. I wound up with two-year subscriptions to The Sporting News, Metropolitan Home (I live in the suburbs) and Cooking Light (yeah, right). I know it was almost two years ago because thankfully, The Sporting News subscription is about to lapse. I used to subscribe to TSN when I was in high school and I loved it. I was living in California at the time and it was really my only source of regular Mets news. It was printed on newsprint and was just chock full of baseball news. In those days it still was 'The Baseball Bible'. These last two years have just shown me how far it as fallen. Baseball is a sidenote to the NASCAR coverage and the writing is like ESPN The Magazine which is geared to people much younger than me. Not only do I rarely open up TSN when it comes every week but I usually just toss it right in the garbage without even looking at it.

Write down the exact quote, day and time; report it here; and we all pollute the internet with it until Francesa resigns in disgrace, leading to a new era in which WFAN's tagline is Reflectvie Voices of Reason. Wow - how cool would that be? Is it possible? Does the MoB have that stuff? I'd consider quitting my job just to spend days trying to find that quote.
  18. I'll be there tomorrow for Humber.

  20. That looks like fun, let me try... Now his manager must come up with a different Stratego for the stretch run. Bradley's surgeon must Connect Four ligaments. I bet Bradley is really Sorry.
  21. ]"...I didn't do nothing wrong." Well there you go - he just admitted it. Seriously folks - Milton Bradley is blaming an umpire for his injury? Hey Milton, how about if you would have just shut the fuck up when you got to first base or at least not become a complete out of control raving maniac? Think maybe you'd be playing today?
  22. I thought it was gonna be Rick Peterson.
  23. I think that's the Yogi quote. Anyway - as if we didn't already know how bad the pitching has been recently, the Mets led the league in runs scored this past week: Mon - 4 Tue - 8 Wed - 8 Thu - 7 Fri - 9 Sat - 7 Sun - 7 Total - 50 They scored at least 7 runs in 6 consecutive games and only won 4 of those games and were lucky to win that many. Consider that the Rockies - who were second in runs scored this past week with 42 - have won 8 in a row. What are we to expect from the Mets in the postseason when the Nats and Fish are teeing off on this staff a week before they may be facing playoff teams? Tiime to stock up on the Nexium my friends.
  24. Rickey Henderson had GIN three times during batting practice yesterday.
  25. Vlad - you're giving two (lame) examples of what you call 'dirty play' in this future first ballot Hall of Famer's 14 year career. If it wasn't ARod who committed those offenses we never would have heard about them. He's a great player (maybe the greatest ever) and any team that has him is immediately improved by a large margin. Personally I don't like what I perceive to be a condescending, me & my money first attitude. But a dirty player? I don't buy it.
