Jeffy, go back to worrying about where the concessions will be at Citi Field, or dreaming up another way we can honor the Brooklyn Dodgers there. I'm not president of the Jeff Wilpon fan club or anything but who cares? What did he say that nobody already knew or felt? What does the timing have to do with it? They are suckier than sucking suck right now and everybody knows it.
  2. They're driving me crazy too. My 10 year-old is getting grief at school for being a Mets fan. He said "Dad, what's wrong with them, why are they losing?! They are supposed to be good and I'm getting teased about it" I told him basically what MonkeyMan said - You can't have the highs if you don't have the lows and WHEN they win it will be that much sweeter. Mets fans have character, Yankee fans are just assholes. I left out the Yankee fans are assholes part.
  3. ]"I'm disappointed with the way the team is performing overall, and that's everyone, top to bottom,'' Mets COO Jeff Wilpon told SI.com before Wednesday's much-needed win expanded New York's NL East lead over Philadelphia to 2 games. "I'm disappointed in Omar, Willie, the players ... that's everyone. We shouldn't be in this position. But we are. We've got to fight our way out and pull this out.'' I agree with him, I'm disappointed too. What's the big deal about Jeffy saying it? I take it as just stating the obvious. (OE: Ahhhh, Joel Youngblood. MUCH better than Jeff Kent)

If you're down by one agaisnt a last-place club with Heilman and, presumably, Wagner ready to go, and you take it upon yourself to assault players, you have lost perspective near to the point of institutionalization, and you need to be kept from ballparks. The game is humbling and intensesly frustrating, with fans 29 of 30 teams going home disappointed, with little or no say over how their teams perform. Mets fans had better learn to deal with that when they're young and stop embarrassing the rest of us by jackassing their way through life. C'mon - I'm not advocating throwing things at players. Just disagreeing with your assessment that down by one these days for the Mets is not 'rough'.

  6. I was out last night and Blackberry-in' this game on the terrorist train home last night. What a debacle. I do not have a word to describe how disasterous this bullpen has become. The team cannot score enough runs, there is absolutely no margin for error. What happened? They were actually good at one point this season. I am this close to saying that this season is all but over because I just can't see how this team as presently constituted can survive the last 10 games let alone do anything in the playoffs. Big time bummer dudes.
  7. ...and he owns a mansion and a yacht and his name is Elmer J. Fudd, millionaire.
  8. Oh..... He's a student and he goes to GWU! Silly me.
  9. What...? Game Winning? Gay Warlord? Gee Whiz?
  10. I hate this team.
  11. 7-4. These Mets are maddening!

  14. I totally saw you. We left after the 7th as well, walked out by the Mets shop behind home plate - you wearing a gray shirt and a black Mets hat. I yelled your name and then one of my kids grabbed my attention and when I looked up you were gone. Yes it totally sucked and I think it was possibly the worst game I've been in attendance for. I was sitting next to some Phillies fans and they were bummed after Beltran tied it at 5. I told them not to worry. Being there by myself with three kids was also no easy feat. I must have gone to the bathroom 7 times with them and since one was my daughter I had to clean pee off toilet seats in the men's room at least three times. That was fun.
  15. Lousy game but the kids had fun and these two got on Diamondvision..
  16. Don't think it wasn't a factor.

  18. Yes, still going. Just me and my 10 year-old, 8 year-old and 6 year-old. I'll be lucky if I get to see an uninterrupted half-inning. My daughter's going to make make another sign so keep an eye out.
  19. What Edgy said. ]ADULTS, GIRLS, AND KIDS WELCOME But please, no boys. ]I HAVE REAL PHOTOS WHEN I PLAYED FOR THE NEW YORK METS Or you could just tell me your name and I'll look you up. ]I WILL ALSO BRING THEM TO OUR PRACTICE AND BRING SOME OLD METS GEAR TOO. Um, okay. ]I WENT TO COLLEGE ON A FULL BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP Where? ]I CAN MEET IN YOUR LOCAL PARK, YARD, OR WHERE A GOOD HARD PRACTICE WILL WORK OUT BEST. Sounds like a code for some other type of 'coaching' if you ask me. ]MY GIRLFRIEND USUALLY TAGS ALONG TO COME WATCH THE LESSONS Is she hot? ]IF YOU PREVIOUSLY CONTACTED ME AND DID NOT REACH ME, I WAS OUT OF COUNTRY FOR 3 WEEKS & NOW HAVE A NEW PHONE NUMBER - APOLOGIES. This is just weird.

Man, I miss those days. I used to go to games spur of the moment by myself a lot. 3 kids and a house in the 'burbs put a stop to that real quick. Planning on being at Shea on Sunday with all three of those monkeys.
  23. One more... The Simpsonized version of myself... Because my birthday is November, 11 (11/11). Really.
  24. And I'm throwing this one up here just cause I always remembered it from my youth and can still sing 'Eleven Alive' in the correct tune and pitch.
