Visiting relatives in Stony Brook tonight, and it's the first time I've been blacked out for a game with the MLB ap! Following on GameDay isn't quite the same.

I was at the Pirates-MFY game in Pittsburgh tonight. Tons of MFY fans there. Probably outnumbering Pirates fans. A rather obnoxious group, too. So it was funny when Judge whiffed to end the game with the MFY fans chanting MVP. Bucs win 5-2. PNC is a really nice stadium, probably even better when the Yankees are not around.

I'm going to be at Citi on Friday! Very excited, as it is my first time there since the year it opened. Would love to say "hi" to any of the Poolers if you are going to be there!

Things are so uninspiring in the Bronx that a kid flipping a water bottle has the bleachers cheering. All those things might be true, but I love the All-Star Game. Always have. I have some neat All-Star Game memorabilia - street pole banners, pennants, programs -- going way back. Ballots, too. One of my favorite nights of the year -- except for when Terry decided to not get a single one of his own players in the game. That was a frustrating year.

Pete and Lindor need your help! You are allowed to vote five times a day, and it's not very time-consuming. The first phase run until Thursday, then the top two have a runoff. Pete's in second, and Lindor is in third behind Trey Turner and Dansby Swanson. MLB just released the cap designs, and they'd be decent if it weren't for the mesh backing, like this year's spring training and batting practice caps. Awful.

The Marlins City Connect uniforms are light years better than their actual uniforms.

I really liked the last three versions of the Independence Day caps. But these are just awful.

People in Detroit are not happy with Baez, for sure.

I'm in Milwaukee and we had our stadium tour planned for yesterday morning, not realizing the team was unveiling the City Connect uniforms that day. The team had many mannequins on display and cutouts of some of the players. People seemed to like them. Lots of activity in the store. I bought a cap and a bunch of people asked me about it during our other adventures. Great stadium tour, by the way!

The more and more I fought, the worse and worse I did. We spent the last week getting to know each other and bettering the game.” The relationship and trust between a pitcher and catcher is very important, and Bassitt had that rapport with James McCann since they worked with each other during spring training. But with McCann down with an injury, Bassitt had to work with both Nido and Patrick Mazeika more. The veteran believed they would build that relationship and figure it out during games, but it didn't happen and he couldn't see that it would take some self-reflection to get there. ... Tuesday night was a product of that. Bassitt was using his fastball to get ahead in counts and then used his slider and curveball to put away hitters. It was the formula that made Bassitt an All-Star last season with Oakland and it was what made him successful earlier this season, but the last few games it was in reverse and the veteran, admittedly, couldn't see it. “[Nido] had an unbelievable game. It's easier when he knows what I like to do on every count. I really regret not doing it a couple weeks ago, but I just didn't know. I never really dealt with this kind of thing. I made a key judgment error that lasted a few weeks,” Bassitt said. “Early in the count we were on the same page, late in the count we were on the same page. It was freeing." He added, “I just thought the last couple of games we would get on the same page and it just didn't happen. And I blame myself. And I apologized to Nido and Mazeika. It was such an obvious thing to do and I just didn't do it.”

I went to the Sunday White Sox game and the team wore those throwbacks. (I think they do it for all Sunday home games.) The team kept the thigh letters, but ditched the beltless pants in favor of belts. They look good on the field. The Sox have had so many looks over the years, some good, some not so good. But they do a nice job recognizing that history. They sell versions of many of the old caps, and there are a lot of people wearing them.
