  1. Curtiss not fooling anyone and gives up the lead.
  2. Love the ad behind home plate - "The official injury attorneys of the Oakland Athletics." Do the A's sue a lot of folks over injuries?
  3. Glad to see this! Wonder what the corresponding move will be. Locastro? Butto gets a start, then back down? OE: Edgy beat me to the question!
  4. https://twitter.com/GaryCarterKid/status/1646841356252217344 LOVE THIS!!!!
  5. Our old friend Javy Baez has been benched by Tigers manager AJ Hinch for doing a lot of stupid things. We really, really dodged a bullet on that one.
  6. =whippoorwill post_id=120860 time=1680186444 user_id=79] Here's me and Rusty
  7. Ouch! Tylor nailed in the ankle.
  8. Another run! Not a pretty one, but a run.
  9. https://content.sportslogos.net/news/2023/02/FBM-Patch-Angels-2023-sportslogosnet.jpg> The Mets should change the colors and the shape. The Angels did it better, with a rectangle logo in a rectangle patch.
  10. =kcmets post_id=121253 time=1680469682 user_id=53] What would un-bland it?
  11. Pham looked good! Disappointed with the ballpark. I've been here five or six times snd it gets blander each time.
  12. Wandering around the stadium before the game, I've seen about four people in Marlins gear, and most everyone else supporting the Mets. There are more people in WBC gear than Marlins gear! Excited to see Senga!

I guess if there's an available roof to put over the field, you don't have to schedule a rain date, but then, the Marlins didn't have a roof in 2011.
  14. 1. What will The Mets' record be? 102-60 2. Where will The Mets finish in the NL East? First place 3. Will The Mets make the playoffs (yes? 4. If so, A. Where exactly will their record land, 1 through 6 (remember that there are 3 Wild Cards), in the NL; Second, behind San Diego. B. How far will they advance; and, World Series C. The number of games in their final round? Six games 5. Who wins the World Series (can be the same answer as Q.4.B.)? Mets 6. How many home runs will Pete Alonso hit? 46
  15. I don't mind that stadiums have these luxury areas. I've been in a handful of them - Target Field, Minute Maid, Guaranteed Rate, Comerica, American Family - as a guest, not a member. Not my kind of thing. I'd much rather have a seat in the stands and watch the game. If the Mets want to do this, and honor Mrs. Payson in the process, that's nice. She was a trailblazer and and I hope they tell her story and keep her memory alive.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: First baseman are rarely in the path of the runner because there's a force on for all runners going to first, so virtually all plays are forceouts, and a collision wouldn't undo that. If a runner wanted to attempt a takeout slide to stop the firstbaseman from continuing the play after the putout, he would be prevented by the rule constricting him to the marked lane. Fielders covering the other bases, however, are more exposed, and responsible for their own protection. Makes sense.
  17. One couldn't handle the rigors of catching, so he changed positions...one couldn't handle the rigors of catching, so they changed the rules to cater to him I'm not sure this is fair to Posey. The rule wasn't changed because he "couldn't handle the rigors of catching." The rules were changed because it makes no sense for a player running full speed to be crashing into a defender in hopes of getting them to drop the ball -- but only at one of the four bases. Can you imagine if this was allowed at first base - even if the first baseman was armored up? Now, would MLB have changed the rule if the backup catcher had been injured and not the All-Star? Maybe not - but maybe.
  18. Alou's time with the Astros happened to coincide with that of pitcher-slash-author Jim Bouton. As SABR noted in Alou's biography, Bouton wrote the following about Alou in his second book, I'm Glad You Didn't Take It Personally: "We called him J. or Jesus, never hay-soos. . . J. is one of the most delicate, sensitive, nicest men I have ever met. He'd walk a mile out of his way to drop a coin in some beggar's cup." Nice.
