  1. Nationals have won eight in a row. They were 40 games under .500 when they started that streak. SNY says that's the third best winning streak for a team that was 40 or more when the streak started.
  2. A clean-shaven Johnny Franco doing the post-game.
  3. Vaughn coming in from the pen now. I couldn't find a thread, apologies if there already is one. "Goin' somewhere meat?" "'Bout ninety feet."
  4. With the bases loaded in a tie game, the Dodgers pinch hit for the pitcher with Manny Ramirez. One grand slam later and the Dodgers are up 6-2.
  5. ]The Binghamton Mets clubhouse nearly turned into a scene out of WWE Raw recently, when VP for player development Tony Bernazard removed his shirt and challenged the Double-A players to a fight during a postgame tirade, multiples sources told the Daily News. A similar scene was written out of Major League because it was deemed "too far-fetched".
  6. I don't even know what team it was, just caught this on Web Gems. Bases loaded, right fielder catches a hard line drive on a short hop, and immediately throws a one hop bullet home to get the runner from 3rd on a force out. Runner had to hold up to see if it would be caught, probably got screwed by the "always tag up from third on a fly ball" rule of thumb. I have never seen that before, very cool.
  7. Broken up in the seventh.
  8. Lincecum with a no-hitter through 5 (2 walks).

  10. Frank is making me nervous.
  11. Fman99 wrote: Quiet IGT. On to the 9th, time for some insurance runs. Which apparently are also runs, this whole scoring thing seems alien to me. I'm like Tom Cruise plopped down in front of a vagina. Not really sure what I've got here. Maverick gets all the hot girls.

  13. It's funny. AshieLarry's ridiculous comments actually cheer me up.
  14. I forgot about that pop-up way back when. How many legitimate runs did the Yanqs score today.
  15. You have GOT to be kidding me.
  16. Good switch there by Jerry. Perhaps Gary doesn't get that ball.
  17. Wait they're on ESPN again tomorrow? This is cruel and unusual. Are they on SNY too?
  18. Jon Miller has every inning of Rivera's career memorized.
  19. Martinez is not a real Met unless he gets a hit here.
  20. Castillo really does have a sick glove out there. He just snagged another hard grounder to end the inning.
  21. ="smg58":khm9u9vu]="Edgy DC":khm9u9vu]I'll say this for Boston --- they do not take dramatic losses sitting down. A lot of jumping from the dugout. A lot of guys down there wanted to throttle someone. I'm hoping it's like the yard full of chihuahuas up the street --- they get so frustrated that they can't get at my dog when we go past that they all turn on each other.[/quote:khm9u9vu] I'm hoping they ultimately take it out on the Yankees.[/quote:khm9u9vu] I missed this post way back when. The mental image of Papelbon (after running up the steps and throwing his cap to the ground in what looked like a steroid-enhanced rage) turning, looking around, and ultimately knocking Pedroia to the ground and dry-humping him like a furious chihuahua is pretty funny. Edgy DC Jun 28 2009 08:57 PM Exactly like the chihuahuas. I didn't want to say explicitly.
  22. Rockin' Doc wrote: I hate Jerry Manuel's love of the sac bunt. It's almost like WWSB never actually left the Mets. Let them swing the damn bats. This team does not hit well enough to be voluntarily surrendering outs. Just think, if Murphy had taken the free out offered by the Yankees in the first inning, then the good guys might be winning this one.
  23. ="Centerfield":1enhsaah]Starting tonight, we are about to start the most brutal stretch of the schedule. Over the next few weeks we see: Tampa Bay (3 games) St. Louis (4 games) MFY's (3 games) Milwaukee (3 games) Pittsburgh (1 makeup game) Philadelphia (3 games) Dodgers (3 games) Twenty games total before finishing up the first half against Cincy. How many do they win? How many can you live with?[/quote:1enhsaah] If we can pull this game out it'll be 5-5 over the first ten and will have made up ground in the east. I can live with that easily.
