  1. They were both close, both were best in two of the three stats and came in second in the third. Murray was tops in BA at .285 and RBI at 100. Bobby Bo beat him in home runs 34 to 27. Henderson was tied for the lead with 12 home runs and high in RBI with 65. His BA was second, .297 to Lenny Randle's .304
  2. Not to me. You guys are good. Cleon Jones in 1971 hit .319 with 14 homers and 69 RBI. Agee and Ed K also had 14 as batmags said.
  3. Beltran strikes out to end it. Somehow his right hand but not his left came off the bat early in his follow through, batting lefty. Getting shut out makes me sad.
  4. Maybe too easy for the CPF. I figured Piazza would go quick, Tommy Davis I thought was harder. Tommy Davis in 1967 hit .302 with 16 homers and 73 RBI. (Bob Johnson hit .348 over 230 at-bats, Bob Heise .323 over 62) Mike Piazza in 2000: .324, 38, 113. (Alfonzo also hit .324 that year)
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: DING! Kevin Elster hit a walkoff homer for the Mets (off Alejandro Pena) on May 31, 1988, and did the same against the Mets on May 31, 2000 against Turk Wendell. Thanks for playing! And after the game, he kissed your girlfriend.
  6. Woulda been better if I did this a couple of days ago. Young handsome David Wright leads the Mets in home runs and RBI, and his .310 batting average entering today's game barely trails Angel Pagan's .311. What Mets have won the Metly triple crown? (I'm requiring 350 at-bats for a batting average win, except in strike years). All statistics courtesy of my favorite database: ultimatemets.com It's been done 5 times. Gimme the player and the year.
  7. A 73 year old Bobby Bo in 2036. Probably old news to many. http://blogs.wsj.com/metropolis/2010/07/01/thanks-to-interest-mets-still-owe-bonilla-298-million/?KEYWORDS=bobby+bonilla
  8. Great game baby!
  9. Weeks hits a home run to lead off the bottom. I'm concerned about the days when the knuckleball isn't knuckling.
  10. No Gary, Pagan didn't save anything, CitiField saved it.
  11. Ollie is still all over the place, the hitters are bailing him out now.
  12. I wonder how much the love-fest from his last game as a Met and first game as an opponent had an effect on this. It probably feels good to have 55,000 give you a standing ovation that lasts minutes and is an expression of appreciation as opposed to a reaction to a play. From what I've heard there's a general apathy in LA for their teams. ABNS can you confirm that or is it just a sterotype?
  13. Infield in (sorta, Reyes was halfway up the dirt) and the grounder still plates the runner on third. Reyes maybe had a good shot at him.
  14. Keith says the pitch had such a late break and that it shoulda been a passed ball instead of the wild pitch that it was scored.
  15. Second and third, one out...and Bay and Wright both strike out. In their defense, I heard Lincecum is a half-decent pitcher.
  16. 17. 79 pitches through 6 for Santana. Please Jerry, don't feel the need to take him out right away. Edit: And 88 through 7.
