  1. It's easy to snub the gods when you have a rocky orange epidermis. Actually, though, I consider myself less superstitious than most.
  2. From August 29th to October 1 the Mets have exactly 1 day off. Here's hoping there will be a chance to rest players in late September.
  3. A man will be at his highest strength potential in his twenties.
  4. I wish Toronto would win the AL East for a change of pace. I'm sick of Boston, too.

He'd still be at short and by now we'd be talking about whether he has yet displaced John Peter Wagner as the greatest shortstop ever. Criticize him for leaving to join a winning team, rather than bearing the challenge of helping to transform a losing team, but it's hard, in that contxt, to say all he cares about is number padding. Also, he didn't want to really leave. He was feuding with Buck (notice that Soriano was also jettisoned), and the Ranger finances were such that the only way to help the team WAS to get out from under that contract. If the money issue wasn't there, there'd be no way ARod would ever be traded, they'd probably fire Buck and the Rangers would have won the World Series in 2004! He did want to leave. He was willing to take less money to go to Boston. Player's association wouldn't let him do it. Edit: I'm Captain Johnny Franco.

He's got great hand/eye coordination, so centering on better pitches - as a result of being agressive when he's ahead in the count - has resulted in better (more level) swings hence more line drives. That's why I picked today's 1st inning HR as an example. He smoked that bad boy. I liked his second single even more. (I think it was the second, it was the one he grounded up the middle.) In the replay, you can see him almost getting up on his feet and swinging perfectly level, almost down on the ball, and hit it solidly. Perfectly in control the hole time, not stepping up the line, not upper-cutting. Our little baby's all grows up.

IMHO, it's judgemental and completely unfair to hate someone because of wasted talent. Especially when the reason is a drug problem. Doc was under no obligation to play baseball. What if he had never had a problem but had just quit the game in 1989 (to arbitrarily pick a year) and had never come back? What if he quit simply because he didn't want to play anymore? Would anyone hate him then? I'm not just asking ScarletKnight either. I'm directing this to anyone who hates Doc for wasting his talent.

Centerfield wrote: The first half of the fight goes about as expected with Chozen kicking the shit out of Daniel....Eventually, Daniel breaks out the Crane Technique...and if you’ve seen the first movie, you know Chozen is done. You can’t defend the Crane Technique. Just ask Johnny. And then, without explanation, Chozen blocks it and counters. Can someone explain to me what happened here? Did Chozen just defend the indefensible move? How can this be? And if you can defend it, with the arms giving it away, doesn’t the Crane Technique suddenly become the worst move ever? Essentially, they just completely undermined the entire premise of the first movie. And it gets glossed over like nothing happened. I think it was at this point I decided that this movie never happened. Just rewatched the fight. Your memory is not serving you. The match was never really one-sided. Daniel-San gave pretty good. Regarding the Crane Technique, which happened pretty early in the fight, it's easy on rewatch to see what happened. Chozen saw Daniel-San get into the stance, and gave a head-fake. Daniel-San bit on the head fake and kicked, and Chozen was able to grab Daniel-San's foot because he knew the move was coming and wasn't moving toward Daniel-San. (Oh, and Mr. Miyagi didn't really give a strong nod. He did move his chin from up to down slowly, but it wasn't really a nod.) ------------------- Regardless, the world would be better off if they had stopped after KK. KK2 and 3 should not have happened, I agree.
