  1. Either way, get rid of the DH.
  2. seawolf17 wrote: ="Willets Point"]- Low point of the game: bratty teenage boy in front of me starts chanting "Mets Suck" and throwing peanuts at Mets fans. Just when I think his parents are going to intervene they start chanting and throwing peanuts too!!!!. This was the most classless family I've ever encountered. You know, ever since I've read this, I've been angry. It makes me want to call the Red Sox and file a complaint. Not only is it fucking obnoxious to do that, peanut allergies are deadly serious. If I was there, I would have not only called security, I would have been very, very tempted to press criminal charges against the little piece of crap and his family. I'm literally still shaking. Infuriating. Makes me want to kick the parents in the fucking teeth. *applause*
  3. Edgy DC wrote: According to retrosheet, at least Mantilla's third strike was looking. My wonderment was more of a "Did anyone make contact?"
  4. Were they all swing-and-misses?
  5. Ha-yuge drop off after Pedro.
  6. TheOldMole wrote: That Sanchez is above Wagner. And that Valentin is above both!?!?! I figured he'd have been cut by mid-April.
  7. Willets Point wrote: Red Sox fans are boasting about the inferiority of the National League, but I recall they clobbered the Marlins in 2003 and Florida went on to win the World Series and Red Sox didn't even make it. My point of course is that in-season matchups aren't very predictive of what would happen in a post-season matchup. At least on a small scale. Eh, let them talk trash (for now). They've earned it. And it's hard to argue with the Interleague record this year.
  8. Wanted to go LoDuca, but went Glavine.
  9. For crying out loud, how many times did Reyes get 4 hits?
  10. Has Beltran hit a cutoff man even once this year?
  11. Just opened up an account. It wouldn't let me read all the fora unless I was logged in.
  12. Eight hours 'till the polls close.
  13. They'll probably get confused and start booing ARod.
  14. I woulda gone with Welcome Back Kapler.
  15. Which makes sense. That's our leadoff guy and our MVP. Combine that with the recent weaker starting pitching, and it makes sense that we've been a .500 team over the past two weeks or so.
  16. Yancy Street Gang wrote: He also needs 5.09 Schaefer points to capture the Pitcher of the Month award for June. Pressure is really on Tom Glavine tonight. 6 innings of shut-out ball ought to do it then.
  17. I think you're kidding around...but isn't he a Red Sock fan?
  18. silverdsl wrote: You'd think he robs small children of their candy and strangles puppies with the way some can't stand him. That can't be it, because a guy who actually murders small children and puppy dogs is beloved. Yanqui fans are weird. Edit: Edgy just beat me.
  19. Edit: Never mind.
  20. You guys are killing me.
  21. mt8thsw9th wrote: ARod's "clutch" hit was simply the case of a blind squirrel finding a nut. The guy's a dog when it really matters, and 1 time out of a hundred does little to change that. Was this his first walk-off hit of any sort with the Yankees? Amazing.
  22. This thread gives me agita.
  23. ="Edgy DC"]="Elster88"]To me, the stat should mean that your team has a good chance to win the majority of games based on the innings pitched and runs given up by the starter. 7 IP 4 ER doesn't qualify in my book, no matter when the runs were given up or when the manager decided to give the starter the hook. Well, according to Dickshot (though I don't know his source), they do win 67% of the time. I pretty much just chose numbers that "sound good" when I came up with my list of what "should" qualify for a QS. Not very scientific. I'm rethinking it after reading that Diamond Mind article.
  24. I like that article.
