  2. As much as the "enlightened" New York sports' fan hates M&MD, I've heard from some Bostonians that they seem like geniuses compared to the comparable show on their station WEEI. I've never actually listened to said show myself.
  3. Interesting SoSH thread on whether or not Pedro will be booed, started in response to a Peter Gammons' comment in a NY Post article. Here is the quote in question: ]A New Englander for all of his 61 years, ESPN's Peter Gammons has a good feel for Boston, so he probably is the right person to predict the reaction Pedro Martinez will receive when he returns to Fenway as a Met. "There will be a lot of booing,'' Gammons said of Martinez' scheduled Wednesday start. Gammons doesn't think the booing is deserved, but said that some Boston sports-talk radio hosts and Web sites have made it a point to present Martinez as greedy for leaving the Red Sox for the four-year, $53 million Met offer in 2005. "It is really unfair, some of the hits he takes here on the radio and shots people take at him,'' Gammons said.
  4. ]Strong local Pittsburgh effort has also pushed Jack Wilson up to #2, Do you have regional numbers too?
  5. MFS62 wrote: Here's a "reverse". A try at a KTE found on the Sons of Sam Horn site about the Mets: http://sonsofsamhorn.net/index.php?showtopic=6453 Willets, yours was better. Much better. Later I was just reading that. It wasn't bad. Just less fun and more numbers.
  6. Michael Kay is a moron. His beliefs and "thoughts" should bear no weight in anyone's mind. In fact, anyone who discusses him, other than to ridicule him, can be dismissed from Metfandom at any moment.
  7. ="MFS62"]Fun KTE. Good Job. The most un-fun of fact of all is about Trot Nixon. If he: judges Captain Clutch's fly ball properly, then takes the correct route to it, rather than spinning like a top; and then catches it, then: The Yanks don't score Pedro smokes the victory cigar after leaving the game with a 5-2 lead the Sox knock the Yanks out of the playoffs The Sox don't change managers yadda yadda yadda (the proper usage - three yaddas). And with that, the SOSH agreed after that fateful series. They didn't blame "The Curse" They didn't blame Pedro They didn't blame the manager They didn't blame the relievers. Many of them blamed Trot for turning BoSox victory into Yankee victory. And for that reason, he must be the one Sox player Mets fans must revile. Forever. Later Red Sox fans always blame the manager. ALWAYS. And not just in 2003. ALWAYS.
  8. Recent Bullpen Usage (SoSH): ]As for the pitchers used Monday, their pitch counts were: Seanez - 9 Lopez - 15 Timlin - 20 Papelbon - 33 Tavarez - 22 Delcarmen - 30 Hansen - 10 On Saturday, the pitch counts were: Delcarmen - 5 Lopez - 4 Hansen - 14 Papelbon - 38

  10. ]Wright's a fine young player and will only get better, but Reyes is, at the moment, one of the very worst everyday players in the majors. He's still only 21 and will of course improve, but it's far too early to predict that he'll actually become a ‘good’ player… I'll confess. I don't see anything wrong with this statement. Everything in it looks true to me.
  11. I brought this up like 10 times in the World Cup thread and no one said a word. Is this mic on?
  12. I've never seen that usage outside of the World Cup. I don't think it's commonly used. A) Boston has won only one championship in 86 years. Boston have won only one championship in 86 years. I think 99% of people would choose B.
  13. The Yankee games are the most fun to attend in person for the entire season, excluding any pennant races. By far. ----------------- 15 interleague games total. I'm sorry you miss that extra round of games that we could get against the Cards, Brewers, Reds, Cubs and Pirates. Nah, I'm not sorry.
  14. I normally am strongly on the side of root against the NL East at all costs. But at this point it's a little silly. We're 15.5 up on the Braves.
  15. Yeah, I knew that. But I didn't think that was really the reason.
  16. ="soupcan"]="Farmer Ted"]Through 75 games, just for kicks: 2006 Mets, 47-28 2000 Mets, 44-31 1999 Mets, 42-33 1988 Mets, 47-28 1986 Mets, 54-21 1973 Mets, 33-42 1969 Mets, 40-35 Does this mean the Diamondbacks are going to clean our clocks in the NLCS? Why the Diamondbacks?
  17. ]No catch: Paul Lo Duca doesn't believe his bruised left thumb will prevent him from playing for an extended period, and he said he expected to play on Tuesday. The thumb has hurt for 10 days, and Lo Duca aggravated it Friday night and again on Saturday.
  18. Willets Point wrote: ="Elster88"]I wish Toronto would win the AL East for a change of pace. I'm sick of Boston, too. Boston haven't won the AL East since 1995. I think its their turn. What I meant was I'm sick of seeing them in the playoffs. Obviously, no?
  19. Remember when Fonzie hit a home run and Bobby V. pretended to faint. That was funny. I miss Bobby V.
  20. soupcan wrote: I had one and listened to WFAN during mine. Fell asleep. You can get the radio in there? I can't even get a signal at my gym.
  21. I can understand that viewpoint, soupy. It is normal whenever there is an emotional investment and you are let down. But my argument is that nobody forced you to make that emotional investment in him. The only reason you did, I'm guessing, is because he was so darn good. I can see being disappointed that he didn't live up to the promise he showed. In fact, I felt the same way. But it's not his fault that you put so much of your hopes and dreams into his life. To say you felt betrayed is implying that he had some sort of committment to you as a fan. I'd argue that he never had any such committment. My feeling is that it's ridiculous to still feel betrayed 15+ years later. The guy is in jail for crying out loud (and bankrupt?). He wishes it didn't happen as much as you do. Do we as Met fans really need to pile on the guy? I'd advise, to anyone who feels hatred, to appreciate what he did instead of hating him for what he didn't do. DISCLAIMER: PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I AM IN NO WAY TRYING TO TELL ANYONE HOW TO FEEL OR THAT THEY SHOULD FEEL HOW I FEEL. I AM SIMPLY PRESENTING A VIEWPOINT THAT, LIKE ANY THREAD IN THIS FORUM, IS OPEN FOR DISCUSSION AND DEBATE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
  22. ]And the MRI experience was worse. He was shown a button to push in case of panic or emergency. "Like I'll need this," he said. Then: "Bzzzzzzzt!" I've never had an MRI before, though my thought is what Duaner thought at first, that it'd be no problem. Maybe you can't tell until you're actually in there.
  23. ] It was a matter of nerves for Duaner Sanchez -- one pinched, the others jangled. One made him unavailable to pitch Sunday in the third game of the Mets' Interleague series against the Blue Jays, the others were just settling down after flights from Toronto to New York and back and his first experience with an MRI cylinder. The news was good -- no damage to his shoulder, and the pinched nerve in his neck shouldn't be a problem after the anti-inflamatory medication takes effect. "Pretty uncomfortable days," Sanchez said Sunday morning after seeking sanctuary in the visiting clubhouse at the Rogers Centre. He is likely to pitch again soon -- perhaps this week against the Red Sox. And if Sanchez has another flight on a small plane or another MRI, it will be too soon.
  24. The off-day is September 14th, so the longest stretch is about 17 straight days.
