  1. I'm worried.
  2. Delgado .5 Valentin .5 Chavez .5
  3. Nothing super special. But a fun (if long) evening at the movies. Saw a trailer for Spidey 3. I'll leave the reviewing to someone else. He did look a little (actually a lot) plasticy from time to time.
  4. I liked it.
  5. Top 12th...now 3-2 on a Giles HR. 2 outs, first and second.
  6. Only thing I can think of is Reyes' arm hurts too much so he can only make shorter throws. But if that was true then he shouldn't be in the lineup at all. More likely an error by that website. I'd MUCH rather see Chavez and Nady then Chavez and Milledge.
  7. I, for one, don't think 6 IP-3 ER should qualify. But I think 6 IP-2 ER should and 7 IP-4 ER shouldn't, manager's decision on when the guy comes out nonwithstanding. To me, the stat should mean that your team has a good chance to win the majority of games based on the innings pitched and runs given up by the starter. 7 IP 4 ER doesn't qualify in my book, no matter when the runs were given up or when the manager decided to give the starter the hook.
  8. Was it actually a bug? Or just dirt?
  9. LOL, Doc. That's a great story. I'm trying to imagine what he was thinking...when he didn't know you were a doctor...as a stranger approaches and says "I can just use a dime." ]Dan's eyes got real big and he stepped back a little HAHAHAHA Even better was that you delivered the Holiday Inn line on cue. Good stuff. Edit: You know you've been programming too much (YKYBPTM), when "cue" come out "queue".
  10. The Red Sox are on a 14-game team errorless streak (as of last night's game). Baseball Tonight says the AL Record is 15, and the MLB record is 16.
  11. 86-Dreamer wrote: if someone throws six scoreless innings, then allows 4 runs in the seventh, was that a quality start? if not, it is a very weak statistic. I disagree. Final line is all that should count. How is 4 runs in 7 innings a quality start? Does it really matter if they were spread equally or not? The fact that 6 innings could ever be a quality start is pushing it as it is.
  12. It makes no sense that the following quote evokes emotion in me. But I feel like a proud father when I read nice things like this about David Wright from fans of other teams. It happens with Reyes too. Maybe because Wright is the first stud (with Reyes being a potential-stud or almost-there-stud.) to come up through the farm who is younger than me. I'm assuming the feeling is "pride in offspring" anyway. I have no kids. ] QUOTE(NYCSox @ Jun 28 2006, 12:17 AM)I'm not going to lie, I was terrified when David came up in that spot. He destroys LHP at the tune of a 1.150 OPS. But after what Seanez did yesterday with the bases loaded, I couldn't condone bringing in Tavarez. I'll take my chances with the kid. I don't think anyone was comfortable during that at bat, especially when Wright started fouling off pitches left and right... well, mostly left, since he was pulling rockets into the seats off of left field. But given the choice between a tiring Lester and Tavarez with the bases loaded against one of the best hitters in the game right now... I think most of us go with Lester.
  13. Non-sig text below "later" in 62's post just looks wrong.
  14. Here's some perfect 20-20 hindsight: why didn't Valentin start at second?

  16. ]I remember him pitching the best game I've ever seen, the 17-strikeout one-hitter at Yankee Stadium in '99. You'll recall that the one hit was a solo homer by New York DH Chili Davis. The TV replays soon revealed something truly amazing: Davis had his eyes closed when his bat connected with the ball. That's what it took to hit Pedro in those days: blind friggin' luck.
  17. KC winners of 8 of 10....probably because of interleague play. Apparently this "American League" is winning some games. (25-50) Pittsburgh has lost twelve in a row to drop to 26-52. Both teams on pace to win 54.
  18. Gehrig38 is about midway down this page
  19. The Cards are on an 8 game losing streak.
  20. I hold my breath every time Reyes slides headfirst, so I usually have the hiccups by the third inning. Of course the one time he (almost) got hurt was the time he went in feet first. Ronnie and Keith were right. It's probably less dangerous to just crash into him then to slide into his shin guards.
  21. My own personal definition is: 6-6 2/3 IP, 2 or less ER 7-7 2/3 IP, 3 or less ER 8-8 2/3 IP, 3 or less ER 9 IP, 4 or less ER
  22. Bell 2 Beltran 2 Marrero 1 Delgado 1 Lo Duca 1
  23. I didn't see his post yesterday. I'll look at that thread again.
  24. Great thread.
