  1. ARod stares and admires for a while (not too long really, but long enough to be noticeable) and then flips the bat after the grand slam. After he crosses the plate, LoDuca had some words for him, so he and Giambi returned the words.
  2. They are teeing off on Soler here.
  3. Most homers in the NL and tied for most RBI in the majors in June. First Met position player chosen player of the month since HoJo (1991). And handsome, to boot.

  7. Gwreck wrote: ="ScarletKnight41"]Crap! Valentin's failure to slide costs the Mets a run I can't believe I'm agreeing with Joe Morgan twice in a game but he was right that Nady needed to be there telling Valentin to slide, and he wasn't. I'll have to disagree here. Nady did give a signal, though maybe was too late in giving it. Regardless, if you don't know what to do, slide. And never, NEVER look for the ball yourself. And of course Joe Morgan goes on and on and on and won't shut the fuck up about Nady to make it seem like it was all Nady's fault. If you want to mention Nady being late there, fine. But regardless, Jose should've slid. His mistake was more unforgivable. And pissed me off more because he immediately looked at Nady....like it's only his job to slide if someone tells him too. And of course Morgan, while harping on it for THREE straight innings, never even mentions that.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: My only nit is with the casting of Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane. While she and Routh have obvious chemistry, she just seems to be too young for this role. At this point in time, Lois Lane is supposed to be a fierce, pulitzer prize-winning reporter with a five year-old son, but at times I couldn't get past the fact that Bosworth was only 23 here... My local free paper said she gave the effect of a prom queen with a fake ID. She was actually quite good, IMHO.
  9. What does the phrase "scene-chewing" mean?
  10. Yancy Street Gang wrote: October will be so much more fun if the Mets are in the playoffs and the Yankees are not. Disagreed. I'll have the same level of fun whether or not the Yankees attend the fallball season.
  11. ="Willets Point"]Eeeeeeeew! That's incest!
  12. Went with Delgado just because his home run made it a one-run game. Flimsy.
  13. Frayed Knot wrote: The Angels recalled RHP Jered Weaver from AAA today. To make room for him on the roster, they designated for assignment ... his older brother Jeff Ouch.
  14. OHernandez 4.5 Sanchez 0.75 Chavez 0.1
  15. Trachsel 4 Lo Duca 1.5 Wright 1.5 Castro 1.5 Reyes 1.5
  16. Thanks but....honestly, if all you're going to do is post a roster, why bother?
  17. NL Record 1999 135-116 2000 115-136 It can turn around that quickly. I hate the American League. DHs are stupid, and the f-ing games take forever.
  18. We may need a sub. We're gonna need another Timmy.
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: Was young Gooden's 3-K performance in the '84 AS game a 9-pitch deal? With all the crap they rerelease these days I wonder if there's anyway I could get that on tape or DVD.
  20. That one's kicking around here somewhere.
  21. Maybe a better question would've been "Has Beltran thrown a ball all year that has been cutoff-able?" The answer is probably still no. I think I remember that comment about Reyes too, but even if Reyes had been in the right spot, that throw goes a mile over his head. Given his play this season, I bet he still throws that ball way over Reyes' head even if Reyes is lined up right (assuming he bothered looking at him in the first place). Actually I was less bothered by that play yesterday because Beltran had a good shot at throwing out Ortiz. But I feel like all year he's been throwing balls that can't be cut. Not sure if it's only me.
