  1. Regarding 2b, if the Mets feel like either Flores or Hererra are ready to play 2b (or Matt Reynolds even), then Murphy is still available for trade. According to this http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/16/giants-look-likely-to-trade-for-pablo-sandovals-replacement/?ocid=Yahoo&partner=ya5nbcs the Giants are looking to trade for a 3bman, and that is Murphy's best defensive position. Is SF a possible landing spot for Mr. Murphy? I'd take Brandon Crawford straight up for him. What about that kid they have, Matt Duffy? He was a SS in the minors and hit really well, with speed and a high OB%. They view him solely as a 2bman, though. Is his range that limited? Can he play SS in the majors? i'd take him if he can. I'm starting to get the feeling Muffy is always available for trade. If we could get a much needed piece from SF, I wouldn't bitch too much, cause as far as Dan's goes, that could be a good move for him career wise.
  2. This is an earlier version with the small menorah. Actually, it looks good but my thinking was that there might be a problem with it being too small. The menorah being in the foreground does give it a balance. I don't like the bells there but I wanted them in there somewhere. This was done before I thought to add the CPF thing. That NY wouldn't be in there. I wouldn't go w/that gray background either. I'd try a lighter one w/o the big menorah up there. Hey, I can just make alts and then use whichever. [fimg=300:2djh7r2l]https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-0n8zveMQsNU/VJIQ-2majVI/AAAAAAAAWPo/MdomPnr_Rk0/s576/2014Xmas-smmehorahTEST-1.png[/fimg:2djh7r2l] Or we can scrap that design altogether. The only reason I went right to work on that was because I still had the layer work from the 2010 Xmas avatar. I thought I just throw it out on Twitter and maybe he sees it. But with the "@KeithOlbermann", like you said, that's like a direct line to his account notifications. I'm okay with throwing it out there, but contacting him directly makes me nervous for some reason. It's the kind of nervous that I'd experience when getting a player to sign a portrait I drew, or something like that. I'm confident in my stuff and I can handle criticism so I don't know what that's all about. Needless to say, I didn't Tweet the card to him

A Festivus Pole would be fun, and maybe work in a little Kwanzaa somehow? Maybe he should throw in a lasagna in there too. Plus one of those roasted pigs with an apple in its mouth. It's too cluttered as it is. I'll re-work that any way you see fit. I've already worked on it a bit, added stockings and added a version with a white backdrop (I'll post that when complete). Made a separate Christmas one that I hope to make a snowGif. The menorah is big, but due to an issue in balance and the fact that other things in there cant be obscured, I basically had only two choices. The first version had the menorah under METS, small (I think I saved a copy, and Ill post it just to see). But too small, I thought, so I looked to display it bigger somehow. I thought it too small in relation to the tree- I'd like the exposure to be equal. But to get the menorah to be seen around the tree, I had to make it big like that (and exceed past the border, which I did not want to do in this case-but had to) but it's thinness keeps it balanced. I'm against adding Festivus or Kwanzaa symbols or poles or whatever, but if that's what you guys want, I'll get it in there. That's the uncluttered version Bats. Ha. Of course I will unclutter it if that is desired. I tried getting it some parts of the tree come forward. This was posted on the cardBlogThing last night (no CPF on this). [fimg=300]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-RWax6sCALi4/VJE8JN0VWKI/AAAAAAAAWPM/9PbzIwbBLIk/s576/2014mfcHappyHolidays-z15.png[/fimg] Picasa did one of those auto things--not sure why or how this happens, but they take a few of your pics and make a .gif from them. It ends up in my Picasa album. They did this: [fimg=300]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-za0jMKkhqv8/VJE9raYoWLI/AAAAAAAAWPY/fIjckFfjnDY/s576/2014Xmas-001-z15-MOTION.gif[/fimg] Would be pretty kool if I didn't have the site logo and name on the outside.
  5. On the day that Hello Dolly premiered in movie theaters, the Mets sent out this holiday card: [fimg=655]https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8624/16042119331_2cfd545d42_o.jpg[/fimg] Courtesy of the batmagadanleadoff collection Wow. This is an excellent Shea image that I've never seen. TYVM BMLO

  7. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Reports today suggest that a Mets bid for Kang is "unlikely." Come on. We all must know by now (they have been saying it as a side note all along just to prepare us) that the Mets are going w/Flores/Tejada at short. Anything else is highly unlikely.
  8. I didn't have one for my '67 customs, so I thought now would be a good time to make one. [fimg=300:5arsms9c]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-NhOKowm7d_w/VJDxv_gb-RI/AAAAAAAAWOE/5Lpv5al5dVU/s576/67mfcTommieReynolds-z15.png[/fimg:5arsms9c] Now if I wanted Olbermann to see the card, I figure tweeting it would be best. But how do I get it going in his direction? Do I go with #Olbermann (with #Tommie Reynolds)? Like you would add "ATTENTION" to a letter? I'll probably understand the Twitterverse the day everyone stops sending tweets.

  10. seawolf17 wrote: Keith Olbermann on Berger. Excellent. I went to see which Tommie Reynolds I have. I have the "Tom,space, space, space (no trace)" one. I imagine the one with the traces of "mie" would be the rarest.
  11. A shortstop who does not like to dive to catch baseballs? I'll pass.
  12. Jason, I read about the Topps Archive pics you bought (at F&FiF). I'm curious as to what those pics go off at (i think you said auction), on average? And I'm not thinking stars, but average Mets. I spend way too much time removing watermarks. shhh!

  14. One of my brothers got the Dice-K bunting card. I'll have him check the back for saberskullduggery. He also got this Derek Jeter card, a reproduction of his 2009 card with a metal (frame like) border, numbered 53/75. Don't see much about them on-line. Very kool card.

    GIL-Watch!

We'll get word in about 5 minutes. Good luck to Gil.
  17. I picked Gee but he & Colon are on my block if the player(s) is(are) right.
  18. I watched the last two hours of this. I was amazed to find out I'd forgotten more than I remembered about '86. They tried to spin some shit with McNamara and his comments and that made it more interesting, but the business about the Clemens blister was dragged out to the max. Mook, of course, was genuine and great, as always. Hurst and Shiraldi were a pleasant surprise, both class acts who seemed to give a very honest perspective. This was very enjoyable to watch.
  19. So now I find out that there are alternate versions of Topps cards in 2014. Some use a different photo, some have all sabermetric stats on the back instead of reg stats. Some have a sparkly effect (reg white border, not the red sparklies). I'd like to shoot for the rarest Topps deGrom card out there, but I don't even know which card that would be. Saw this on Ebay (deGroms/Montero/Abreu photo variations-20 bucks for the deGrom): [fimg=200:p4zp9mm1]https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-CEe6chzOZho/VIODRlUOdRI/AAAAAAAAV54/t3vnUOdXzJU/s500/ewfg.JPG[/fimg:p4zp9mm1][fimg=200:p4zp9mm1]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ASKrfixfKIU/VIODSYMynDI/AAAAAAAAV6I/dwpdjsltG3Y/s512/wew.JPG[/fimg:p4zp9mm1][fimg=200:p4zp9mm1]https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-otMdnWIee-Q/VIODRsy0O4I/AAAAAAAAV5w/IwvAhygFOAA/s512/tut57.JPG[/fimg:p4zp9mm1] Looking through the cards I have picked up over the last season I'd have to surmise that the sabermetric stat cards are the rarest. I've only seen one (Mike Olt). I don't know if there is one for deGrom. I've seen a bunch of photo variations. No Mets.
  20. Colbert poked some fun at Scott. Looked for a clip but none out there. Can't recall verbatim, something like, "Dale Scotts most recent call: I'M OUT!"
  21. seawolf17 wrote: There are a handful of throwaway Mets in the Update set this year: Chris Young, Matsuzaka, Satin, Q, Andrew Brown. No "Future Is Now" cards for deGrom in the set, though. Well, I think spending 40 bucks for deGroms rook is enough for now. I'd like to have all the Mets in the set but I'd do better to get them individually at this point. 330 cards in this UD set. That's too many cards, man. There's dead weight in there with the ASG cards and all the other bullshit. I'm glad deGrom doesn't have a "Future Is Now" card. I'm not a big fan of those fancy side subsets. But I think I would have wanted that card. So deGrom gets none and Wacha gets four. Ha. Good job Topps. Thnx 4 the info seawolf17.
  22. Went all out for a Topps update deGrom. Got it in my second blister box. Also got his "debut" card. Topps put's the SC (rookie card) symbol on both. I don't like that. I consider only the one that has stats as his true rookie card. [fimg=200:2xvsiubj]https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-hpnpE_mGAeQ/VH4lxoGVkTI/AAAAAAAAV4Y/KVHs99jrw-I/s512/ToppsUD50-JdG.png[/fimg:2xvsiubj] [fimg=300:2xvsiubj]https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Hn4gpcsFG6Y/VH4ly8pJG7I/AAAAAAAAV4c/mblIjp-MA70/s720/ToppsUD57-JdG.png[/fimg:2xvsiubj] Got all the Mets in the set, I think (missing one checklist). Got Montero RC, Bobby Abreu, Murph allstar game card (I don't like the ASG cards being in the update set- that's a waste), and I'm pretty sure that's all of 'em. [fimg=200:2xvsiubj]https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-5l6c1rb4lPg/VH4lyoidFpI/AAAAAAAAV4k/PhHTxyRPSyI/s512/ToppsUD278-RM.png[/fimg:2xvsiubj] The UD packs also include a sub series called :"The Future Is Now". It depicts a slew of rooks and I assume there is one of these for deGrom. As a matter of fact, Mike Wacha has at least 4 different versions of his "Future Is Now" card ( I have 4- Maybe there are more-have not seen a chklist for these). Does anyone know if there is a "The Future Is Now" card for Mr. deGrom?

  24. My list went: Craig Biggio Randy Johnson Jeff Kent Edgar Martinez Pedro Martinez Mike Piazza Curt Schilling Gary Sheffield Lee Smith John Smoltz That was off the top of my head. I didn't go comparing numbers or anything like that. If I seriously checked career stats and whatnot my list might be a little different, but not much.
