  1. Bay has a "mild" concussion that he first started feeling (reporting) on the plane ride home.

I felt like the Mets should've come out with their best pitchers coming out of the break, not Takahashi. Santana (And to a lesser extend Pelfrey who was struggling) should've pitched on normal rest, not an extra two days. But now suddenly we've lost some and gotta move everyone else up? They could actually get by without pitching him again after Saturday until August 14th. During this nine game stretch with no breaks it means everyone twice, except Takahashi.

  4. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Also, they loved Lee. How can their hearts heal from the trauma in time to ask Ted Lilly to prom (even though he's, like, so perfect for them, and they don't even know it)? THESE THINGS TAKE TIME. Yeah, he's not the only one who's taking these "financial problems" for granted among beat reporters, either, with absolutely no proof to be found. These must be some solid rumors. the actual evidence doesn't support the financial problems, but the whispered rumors do somehow?

We've got Jerry. He's just going to bunt anyway.

How about we get Ryan to pitch in the Celebrity Softball game All-Star week 2013 at Citi Field? Will that help?

  8. Edgy DC wrote: Sheesh, weren't folks decrying the lack of real depth at the corner infield spots? Hessman, according to reports, has played excellent defense this year. OE: But man, it's surely offense that we need. Honestly, I was kinda hoping they'd call up a fourth/third catcher.
  9. Edgy DC wrote: I think it's probable that Manuel will not be fired by tomorrow, but I certainly don't read that in the Hessman tea leaves. I mean, it's exactly what I'm asking for also, and I'm certainly not going to be in the dugout tomorrow. Hessman, for what it's worth, played the field last night for the first time since his injury. Fits with Jerry's PH style too. Might want to let a guy get a little more up to speed defensively no? Turner can play third..

Ike Davis hit two homers in that game off of that Jints pitcher that never gave up a HR to a lefty all season. Ike also made one of his highligt reel catches in that game. It's still cheesy if you ask me. What I want to know is if there will be any other Classics this year. Next week, SNY is scheduled to air the 1963 game when Jim Hickman's walk off grand slam HR ended Roger Craig's 18(?) game losing streak. Either that or maybe we'll get that game from 1999 when Matt Franco's pinch hit beat the Yankees. Did you ever see the Franco game? Classic stuff ... in the "The Night Chicago Died" sense that anything's a classic if you play it enough. Interesting, but I did mean Classics made, not aired.
  11. Hasn't been up since September of 2008. If Allah is kind, he'll be Met number 890. Current favorite to be Met 900: Russ Adams. Seriously, Hessman so belongs on this squad. I read into this (because what else is there to do on offdays) that Manuel is staying. A guy that's pegged as a power bat? Seems exactly what he'd ask for. And he's desperate to give Wright a day off.

Madison Square Garden New York Knicks, New York Rangers Vendors with critical violations: 61% Inspection report excerpt: At one stand, inspectors found "53 mouse excreta" (38 on top of a metal box underneath the cash registers in the front food-prep/service area and 15 on top of a carbonated-beverage dispensing unit). What'd you do at work today? Oh me, I counted mouse poop.

I'd be terribly unsurprised if they also had a lead on a secondbaseman. Ask Urinal Cakes. He probably has a lead. Uggla's been floated, not that I want him or think Florida would trade him to a team they're suddenly right behind.

  19. If they're seriously considering trading Castillo, I think it does signal that they're virtually giving up this year. Tejada is just a significant downgrade on a team that's struggling to score runs. And if that were the case I'm just as willing to let Ollie have a shot next spring as Meche. Not sure Guillen has any real value to the Mets either.
  20. Looks like the Mets should get a chance to help Johan's cause by beating on Wainwright on Tuesday.
