That includes Sherman, although he seems to think he has a pretty clear idea what went down at Minasian's dinner overture. And I think this comes back to the 'not having a GM'. If Billy Eppler is the guy - and he had decided 'that isn't how I'd spend $20 million' fair enough. But the absence of leadership & direction comes back to Sandy Alderson and Steve Coen
  2. I'm down but jeez - 21.5 million is a lot for them to pay. Only thing here that's interesting is that it's pending a physical. They've got a day or two to do that, and if they don't like the results Noah can still take the QO - then you feel dumb for making the QO. You do have to think the whole not having a GM thing kinda helped this happen.

  4. Interesting piece here from 2017 https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/biggest-offseason-question-for-each-mlb-team-dodgers-list-of-free-agents-yankees-shortstop-opening-more/https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/biggest-offseason-question-for-each-mlb-team-dodgers-list-of-free-agents-yankees-shortstop-opening-more/

And if this hire doesn't work out then maybe the shit really has hit the fan. Well as long as he doesn't go home with the waitress.
  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: But at least in Conforto's case, if they don't sign him, they'll get someone else's pick, right? (Assuming he receives and declines a QO.) They don't get their pick - just a comp pick- the team who sign the player lose their 2nd pick - normally that's in the second round but because of the Kunze Rocker clusterfuck ours is the 14th
  7. But that Conforto comp pick is going to be in the 30s the pick they lose is the 14th one. That's a big difference
  8. Well safe to say 3 years at 10 million per year isn't signing him in a million years. I'd be intrigued if 5 x 20 would do it. Not saying that the Mets should go for that but if your Javy Baez you'd definitely give it a fair bit of consideration
  9. =Ceetar post_id=80019 time=1634740340 user_id=102] Breaking: Guy will sign if he gets the offer he wants.
  10. I always liked Hansel Robles - I think my totally unscientific sense of things is that he'd go on a period of success, get worn out and give up dingers. get his mojo back again and repeat
  11. that can't be right.
  12. Chris Flexen.
  13. also think the DeGrom injury simply can't be over-stated. The cascade from it caused every 2nd half start to feel 'pressured'. I know ONE player - especially a pitcher - shouldn't be that important, but look at how good he was vs what every other team had.
  14. =Fman99 post_id=78887 time=1632964589 user_id=86] In other news, Lee Mazzilli is an abysmal radio presence calling a Mets game.
  15. Edgy MD wrote: Sweep the rest of the season and ... well, that'll probably still fall short of the playoffs, but it'd be something. Theoretically: PHI drops out of contention somehow and the Mets are within 3 1/2 of ATL before the 10/1 game which starts a 3-game series. ATL has an "only if it matters" make-up game against COL on 10/4. The Mets sweep, COL wins the makeup game, and (unless there is a bizarre tie-breaker) the Mets and ATL play one game for the NL East championship. deGrom walks on the field and says, "I'm ready!", pitches 5 perfect innings and then Luis takes him out because he has had too many up/downs. And Familia gives up a 4 run homer
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Terry may not have a lot to say over the long haul, and he's got more than a few "What I used to tell the fellas" cliches, but he's generally a good listen. My current baseball consumption is generally falling asleep to an inning or two and I'm quite enjoying Terry's general shtick. Gives off enough authority to feel informative but not too "you wouldn't understand you haven't played the game" that some guys give off. I'm NOT having to listen to him for an entire game so maybe it grates after a while but I've enjoyed it. Give me Howie back and keep Terry and it'd be better again!
  17. Call me out if they lose this
  18. Looks pretty nice all right. I'd never heard of White Plains till two days ago. It's funny I knew all of the Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn (well not ALL but you know what i mean) - I also even knew a few places in New Jersey (Universal Merchandising had part of a warehouse in Harrison where i had to go) but these sort of commuter towns are a mystery to me.
  19. =duan post_id=76304 time=1630603244 user_id=99] the drink driving thing ... I'm sure people still do it here but it really has become socially unacceptable to have more then the smallest drink and get in the car. It's a bit more prevalent down the country but there's no way anyone in Dublin would drive to a party and have 3/4 drinks (let alone enough to make you fall asleep) and drive on home.

Don't get me wrong it USED to be very common (my grandfather for example, back in the 70s when he went to the golf club nobody would have batted an eyelid at them having best part of a bottle of wine or a few whiskeys). Is there ever any random testing done on the roads there? We get it a lot particularly around Christmas. I also don't understand why someone who can clearly afford it doesn't just get a fucking cab/driver.
  21. Chad ochoseis wrote: =G-Fafif post_id=73404 time=1628083418 user_id=55] All suspended games officially revert back to whence they begun. The boxscore at MLB.com is showing players' stats as of 4/11. Nimmo is hitting .444.
  22. You could almost here whomever was questioning gaffawing as he realised how stupid Baez was going to look coming out with that. I don't like booing - I never see the point of it, but to whine about it and then do some stupid 'retribution' ... do you EVER look in the mirror!
  23. This is a really bad look all round. Jesus how lacking in self awareness can one bunch of people be.
