  1. Lead cut to 7. History in the making here folks, where are you?
  2. Beltran doubles Wright home. Woo-hoo!
  3. Wright on base with no outs to start the come-from-behind rally. Lets! GO! Mets!
  4. Well at least we have Indiana Jones starting tomorrow night. He'll put an end to this slide.
  5. A brick to fling at CitiField?

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: The big mistake was Omar's in failing to turn the earth for fresh bench guys and instead betting big on repeat performances from guys who'd already flunked out of everyday playing status and are only getting older. Ding-ding-ding! That's my big beef with Omar too.
  7. A game of the dozens broke out in this thread.
  8. ="batmagadanleadoff"]="Benjamin Grimm"]Don't rule out the possibility of the Mets getting four months of service from Pedro this year. There's still a chance that he'll be the difference between paying in October and not playing in October. He's been injured so often as a Met, that I wonder if people are forgetting how brilliant he pitched --even as a Met-- when he was healthy. Stupid people are, which sadly encompasses too many Mets fans.

  10. There goes the perfect game. Whew. Being one hit isn't much better though, so let's get working boys.
  11. I could see 31 being jointly retired for Piazza and Franco. I don't think it would violate the Mets standards to honor two beloved sons that way.
  12. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Sorry. Seaver deserves it, Piazza doesn't. Piazza only had about three and a half good seasons with the Mets. For half of his time with the Mets, he was in decline. And he was GAY!
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Yeah, things were different then! It was the era of the player-umpire. You say this as a joke, but according to A Game of Brawl this was actually fairly common in the 1890's.
  14. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I agree. As long as they don't retire his number. Should be a shoe-in for the Mets HOF though.
  15. AG/DC wrote: ="Willets Point"]The Mets are starting their big comeback against the Atlanta pen now, yes? I feel all tingly when you talk to me like an Eastern European beauty innocent of baseball and its cruel vicissitudes. This Ay-gee deserves a bullet of cool, no?
  16. More important: Schedule Mike Piazza Day at Shea NOW!!!! Sure they could do it at Citifield, but I think it should be done in the ballpark Piazza played in.

  18. metsguyinmichigan wrote: As for Glavine, you just know he was glaring in there at Cox for sending him out there for the sixth! I thought it was in his contract that he only goes five. LOL.
  19. See, Glavine was just holding back his best stuff until he returned to his true team.
  20. How bad is it? Gameday has it 2-1 Braves, but y'all are talking like its much worse.
  21. Benjamin Grimm wrote: If the Mets beat Glavine today, will that be seen as proof that Glavine is really a Met at heart? Proof that the Mets have good hitters or that Glavine sucks, at the very least.
  22. 2008 hands down. The team still has a lot of holes that Omar needs to fill, but it's in better shape than last season and I'm convinced they're playoff bound.
  23. Yeah, that IS a lot of meat!
