  2. I entered the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997 myself. I entered it again in 2006.

  4. JETER'S HEROICS RALLY YANKS IN 9TH INNING Mets win 6-4
  5. How did the Mets manage to score 3 runs over the course of two innings with only 1 hit?
  6. Edgy DC wrote: Problem is that --- having been 14 years since Jeter's fraudulent homerun --- there are a dwindling number of fans who've ever known ill weather. I had to check the internet to find out if Stump Merrill was even still alive. (He is.) Edgy, the Yankees went a WHOLE EIGHT SEASONS without winning a World Series as they RIGHTLY DESERVE. You don't know that kind of hardship.
  7. I stopped participating in Schaefer Voting long ago because every time I voted I had a new asshole torn. And it wasn't Edgy doing the tearing. It was everyone. In other words, "Physician heal thyself."
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Thanks! That's the first time I've ventured into 1978. I don't know if I'll go beyond that. Maybe to 1979, but no more. I like the idea of confining this stuff to the 1970's, the decade where I cared most about baseball cards. My first baseball cards were a couple of hundred hand-me-downs from my uncle of the Topps 1978 set so I have a special fondness for that year.

Lifetime ban from all ballparks. its unenforceable, unless you want to require a birth certificate, photo id, and social security card to enter a ballpark (hell, we couldnt even keep a guy on a "no fly list" from getting on a plane!) I know. Until they develop retinal scan technology at ticket gates. Arizona's in the vanguard on this.
  10. Great. He joins the London Underground bomber who was photographed wearing a Mets jacket.
  11. Frayed Knot wrote: It depends. If the guy was resisting in some way - other than just being a stupid drunk who is having fun until he's caught and goes quietly - then it's one thing. But tasers occasionally kill people and I prefer cops/security folks didn't pick that as their first option based on the premise that he might do something or because it's easier than chasing him. This.
  12. Maine's just the guy we need to end this mini-slump.
  13. Spahn was my next guess. Spahn had the great line "I played for Casey before and after he was a genius."
  14. Dude acts like a Manchurian Yankee Fan.
  15. Fuckin' hell mets.com! You gave me a heart attack. The front page headline right now reads "Mets deal Majors ERA leader Pelfrey." After CPR, I read further to realize that somehow the headline writer is using the word "deal" to mean "starting today's game" instead of "trading to another team." Jesus H. Christ!!
  16. Remember 2007 when the Mets would fuck-up and the Phillies would make them pay for every mistake and then shove a few extra runs down their throats for extra measure? This game reminds me of those games in 2007. In reverse.
  17. Well, it looks like I'm in the minority on this one, but I can't remember ever being this excited about a game in April (that wasn't opening day). Can't wait until 7:05 pm.
  18. What happens when you unplug that thing? Does the ball roll drop down and roll to the floor?
  19. Tonight the Red Hot Mets face their arch-rivals in Philadelphia for the first time this season. Is this a big deal?
