  1. The team managed to do worse than the most pessimistic of predictions.
  2. Another game, another Mets loss. The contrast between true World Series contenders (Dodgers & Giants) and playoff pretenders (Mets) was quite apparent this past 2 weeks. Good teams find a way to win close games, this team seems to find ways to lose them.
  3. What a surprise! The Mets leave them loaded and still trail the Giants by a run.
  4. Bases loaded, the Met nemesis. Can they come through this time?
  5. The stolen base is a vastly under utilized weapon. For a team that struggles to score, they should be looking to "manufacture runs" and pressure the defense any way they can. Luckily, Villar walks.
  6. Frayed Knot wrote: ABSURD If they're going to stop the game for three minutes to reverse that then I'd prefer to go back to no replay at all. I'll take three incorrect calls per game over that shit. Frayed Knot wrote: Since they exempt PH ABs from counting as a mound visit, every PH situation now almost automatically brings a mound visit. iow, their rule change designed to shorten the game is lengthening it. Yup! Knot is on a roll.
  7. Lefty Specialist wrote: This team hasn't demonstrated enough that they can even finish at .500, let alone the playoffs. Fork, meet Mets. I will be surprised if this team finishes at .500. The only hitters I have any faith in, are Nimmo and Alonso. As I type that, Pete launches a bomb down the line to tie the game.
  8. The reason I have seen for having DeGrom ramp back up and pitch this season, is so the Mets can go into the off season knowing DeGrom's status. DeGrom's status is that he's the best pitcher on the damn planet (when healthy), he's just become rather fragile. I don't think it is worth the risk to have him pitch one or two outings for a team that will be going nowhere, but home, when the regular season is over. I would prefer to let his arm have the entire winter to recover and get healthy/
  9. Woo Hoo. The Mets win to keep from being swept (series and season) by the Dodgers. Time to turn it on and kick some butt in the upcoming homestand.
  10. I have essentially resigned myself to the Braves once again winning the NLeast. There is little sense. IMO, in risking injury to DeGrom by having him pitch in a few meaningless games at the end of the season.
  11. I am so tired of the Mets total lack of offense. It is really getting monotonous and old. As soon as the opponent scores 3 runs (as the Phillies just did) I pretty much consider it game over and better luck next game.
  12. =Fman99 post_id=73861 time=1628422277 user_id=86] Surprised no one has mentioned yet the inevitable, triumphant return of JdG to the mound. There's your catalyst.
  13. Kennedy knew what he was doing. Once the walks put a RISP, the Mets were dead in the water. 6 fastballs, six swing and misses from the Mets hitters. Same old Mets. Now they have to try to salvage at one win in the series against Wheeler tomorrow.
  14. Now Villar follows with a home run. 5-2 ball game with no outs in the 9th. Too little too late. If another hitter reaches base for the Mets, the Phillies will simply counter with a true MLB pitcher to close it out. McCann goes yoard for back-bacl-back HRs to open the 9th. Game over, though as the Phillies bring in Kennedy. The Mets will likely not get another hit.
  15. The only suspense left in this game is whether can get a third hit or not. Staring their 9th shut out square in the face. Woo Hoo! A meaningless home run to (somewhat) save face.
  16. Wow, this offense is really inept. Frustrating to watch. Being a Mets fan, I should be accustomed to it by now,
  17. =smg58 post_id=73797 time=1628364032 user_id=62] I'm mystified by Conforto. His .412 BABIP last year was never going to be repeated, but it really looked like he had matured as a hitter. ...
  18. West had a very wide strike zone, but he was pretty consistent with it throughout the game. The Mets did not lose due to West's ball and strike calls.
  19. Jacob deGrom confident ‘frustrating' injury won't end his Mets season. No, only the Mets season.
  20. Lefty Specialist wrote: They got by on smoke & mirrors (and deGrom) for 3 months. The smoke has cleared, the mirror is cracked and deGrom has vanished. Yup. Stroman et al are seeing how tough it is to pitch when you know that if you give up 2 runs , you almost assuredly get a loss. The Mets noffense lives.
  21. Flail and fail.
  22. Unlucky.
  23. I am really starting to dislike this team.
  24. I am so tired of this flail and fail offense.
