    Stupid is as stupid does.

I voted for Medina as we;ll. He's been pretty reliable. I do have a soft spot for Holderman, since he netted us Vogelbach.

Contreras is the King of meaningless 9th inning home runs. Oh, put it in the books!
  4. The Hot Corner
May is bringing the heat (69-97 with his fastball) thus far. One out to go.
  5. The Hot Corner
Stephens fails to pay attention to Naquin so he steals second without a throw. Guillorme moves him to third and NIdo drives him in with a squeeze bunt.
  6. The Hot Corner
Naquin with a big pinch hit single to drive in Escobar. Feeling better now.
  7. The Hot Corner
Lead off double by Escobar set the stage for the Mets in the 8th.
  8. The Hot Corner
Whew, Givens somehow gets out of it without further damage.
  9. The Hot Corner
Escobar has been erratic as a hitter, but his defense at third has been solid all year long.

I'm not comfortable with Givens out there. After a week ground out for the 1st out, back to back doubles plate the Braves 1st run.

Scherzer is a warrior. What a brilliant performance in a crucial game. Max throws a season high 108 pitches and records 11 strike outs. Be interesting to see who Buck entrusts to finish this game.

Wow, the Mets get the call on the review. Even on the replay, I'm not sure Pete ever touched the plate (it was very close). Great effort by both Riley and d'Arnaud, but it' an insurance run to the Mets.
  14. The Hot Corner
Ruf just brings out the worst in the Brave's defense.
  15. The Hot Corner
Great, heads up play by Guillorme. It would never have been possible if d"Arnaut would have broke hard as soon as he saw the ball was on the ground. Better baserunning by d'Arnaud and Guillorme would have had to take the easy out at first since Harris was stealing second. Still, Guillorme had the presence of mind to make a risky, phenomenal, play.

    Bases loaded for Ruf.
  17. The Hot Corner
Big at bat for Pete. He comes through with a single to drive in the first run of the game.

Pete just missed that one. I think Pete initially thought he got enough of it.

Nimmo's hustle once again pays off.

    =seawolf17 post_id=102657 time=1659816704 user_id=91] Holy shit McCann got a big hit!

David Peterson has been roughed up a little bit the past few times out. We need the good Peterson today.

Edgy MD wrote: I have a perverse need to see ballplayers forced to do the full range of ballplaying. In fact, if I could go back to the beginning and reinvent the game, I'd require each player in the lineup to pitch one inning. Complete Ballplayer - hit, hit with power, field, run and throw. If "throwing" includes pitching, why the heck not? Fun idea. Ohtani says, "Been there, done that."
  24. The Hot Corner
    I went for 17-11.
  25. The Hot Corner
Whew. That check swing dribbler was a thing of beauty tonight. It looks like Walker will have May and Lugo as his late inning help if it is a close one tomorrow.
