  1. A nice, low stress victory. Hoping for more of the same tomorrow.
  2. Whew! Butto in relief of Senga escapes a jam. Mets lead 7-2 going to the home half of the seventh.
  3. Senga on cruise control. Has retired 17 Rockies in a row after giving up the HR to the second batter of the game.
  4. Nimmo kaboom!!! Soto Kaboom!!! Back to back jacks.
  5. Baty with a bases clearing triple. Rockies CF made poor play on what appeared to be a deep sac fly off the bat.
  6. Bases loaded for Pete in the home half of the 1st.
  7. Weird start to the game. First Rockies hitter called out for clock violation. Then second hitter, Rockies shortstop Tovar, hits a "ghost fork" out to left field to put the Rockies up 1-0 early. According to Gary's call, it is only the second HR off the ghost fork in Senga's career.
  8. Diaz was lights out to preserve the win.
  9. Lindor with his second HR to give some insurance.
  10. As a top prospect, the talk was all about his bat and the question was whether he could handle the defensive load at catcher. His defense is far better than anticipated, but the league has adjusted to him and he just seems lost at the plate. He needs to make an adjustment. Otherwise, the Mets may need to give more playing time to Torrens. He is very good defensively and I have more faith in Torrens (than I do Alvarez) at the plate.
  11. Brazoban gives up a solo HR in the 7th to make it 3-2 Mets. The offense needs to torch this team. Time for some insurance runs to rebuild the lead.
  12. Peterson gets through 5.6 innings, then the wheels came off. Brazoban comes in and quickly ends the Rockies threat. Mets leading 3-1 going to the home half of the 6th.
  13. Tovar matching Vientos K for K for the Rockies.
  14. Vientos strikes out for the third time tonight. At the end of 5 it's Mets 3 and the Rockies 0..
  15. [MetsBlue]Marte KABOOM!!![/MetsBlue]
  16. Lindor Singles and scores from first on Soto's line drive double in the right-centerfield gap. 2-0 Mets
  17. Glad the Mets tossed him. I wonder how he enjoyed watching "the worst organization in baseball" advance to the the NLCS while he was sitting on his couch. Enjoy your time in Washington (at least until he is traded). He must live out of a suitcase, he has played for 8 organizations in 8 years.
  18. Interesting to see him chilling with the relievers in the bullpen yesterday. The guy is definitely intense and whether he is playing or on the IL, he is their to support hid teammates and the team.
  19. Edgy MD wrote: Umpires calling runners out by name on the PA is also a bad precedent. The fact that the umpire specifically made a clear statement to the crowd about the call and the result is to be applauded. Saying “Juan Soto” is probably not best practice and it should have been “Number 22” or “batter-runner” but I'm ok with excusing it here because the explanation was clear and necessary. If I remember correctly, the umpire also referred to Nimmo as simply "Brandon" in his explanation. I just watched the umpires on field explanation following the play, his call was as follows: "Ruling on the field was no catch and then, by rule, Juan Soto is out for passing, so Brandon is at first." Just seems to familiar to me.
  20. Jonathon has started 8 games for the Brooklyn Cyclones thus far this season. He currently has a 2-4 record with 32.0 innings. His ERA is 5.81 and he has surrendered 1.581 WHIP with 32 K and 12 walks. He has been touched for 7 HRs over his 32 innings of work. Small sample size, but he obviously needs to do a better job suppressing the long ball. Luckily, he is only 22 years old, so he has time to develop.
  21. Jett is having a solid start to his season with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Through 38 games and 158 ABs, Jett is slashing .284/.373/.485/.858 with 4 HRs and 9 SB in 12 attempts. He is primarily playing SS. He has 27 starts at SS, 5 starts in CF, 5 starts as DH, and 1 start at 2B. Overall, he has 6 errors on 82 chances as a shortstop. He is error free in his 5 games in CF and 1 game at second. Overall, a rather promising AA season for a 21 year old, though his error rate at SS is pretty high.
  22. I definitely prefer him in the 2 spot of the line up rather than 4th or 5th.
  23. Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout. Mets win 2-1 on a walk off fly by Lindor.
  24. Nimmo comes through to set the table. Acuna then scores easily from third on a rather routine shallow sac fly by Soto. Acuna's speed is such a weapon.
