  1. The Mets keep fielding balls then throwing them in the general vicinity of first base and Alonso keep turning them into outs.
  2. Thus far, inning ending double-plays are Peterson's friend.
  3. Marte with the hardest hit ball of the inning. Unfortunately, it was right at the Giants LF. The Mets did make Ray throw 26 innings to get through the 1st inning.
  4. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: "Big Amish" Nick Kurtz of the As is the 1st rookie to hit 4 HRs in a game tonight in Houston. Only 20th overall He threw in a double and a single as well, for a 6-6 night and a MLB record tying 19 total bases. That would be a nice series, but it is one hell of a game.
  5. Diaz strikes out Rengifo to end the threat. Diaz got three called strikes that were all off the plate. The umpire essentially took the bat out of Rengifo's hands.
  6. So many infielders now move to play the ball to the side rather than play the ball in front of them. I'm "old school" like Keith, I was taught to get in front of any ball you could, so that even if you didn't field it cleanly you could knock it down and still make the play. The Ole play by Baty has helped to set up this inning for the Angels.* *I don't know how to make the acute accent on the e of ole.
  7. Lindor with a second straight RBI single. Welcome back.
  8. Three run bomb by Alonso!!!
  9. Lindor gets a hit!!! Mets retake the lead.
  10. Thisa would be a very opportune time for the heart of the order (Lindor, Soto, & Alonso) to start hitting again.
  11. Trout ties it up with a solo home run to RCF.
  12. Now that's more like it. [bIGPURPLE]Nimmo with a leadoff home run. [/bIGPURPLE]
  13. So far the Angels have done all they can to gift wrap the games with sloppy defense and questionable base running. It would be nice to just go out and take a game without need for the opposition to gift them runs. I'm fine with the gifts, I just want to see the offense start clicking again. Lindor and Alonso need to get off the skids and start hitting again.
  14. Baty (thankfully) with the nice "look what I found" play on a hot smash by Soler for the third out.
  15. Well, that sucked. Chance to blow the game open with the top of the order coming up and Nimmo strikes out, Lindor strikes out, intentional walk of Soto, then Alonso strikes out. Put a ball in play and let the Angels defense have a chance to botch the play so you can score.
  16. Wow. The Angels play defense worse than a good high school team. The Mets need to take advantage of the Angels porous defense (like last night).
  17. John Olerud's time in New York was short (only 3 years), but the production was wonderful. His offensive consistency, coupled with Gold Glove caliber defense and he definitely should be an honorable mention.
  18. Vientos is back We can surely hope. Last night was huge, but one game does not make a season. If he can string together good at bats over a week or two, then I will believe he has found his stroke. It would be huge for the team if he can regain his form from last season. Too many "black holes" in the Mets line up right now.
  19. Best to give Diaz the night off now.
  20. Lead off double by Taylor. Walk by Nimmo. Nice start.
  21. Would it be too much to hope for an insurance run (or two) in the ninth inning?
  22. Wow! Vientos comes through with a bases clearing double to retake the lead. Never saw that coming.
