1. FFS, Mets.
2. 93-69, squeaking into a division win, eking out a Division Series win, barely scraping through the NLCS, then sweeping the World Series behind a shutout in Game 4 by Steven Fuckin' Matz.
3. Vaguely remember his long hair, but have no game-specific memories.
4. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I predict wild success at every level, even if he went to a crappy school. This guy will end Matz' career as a Met. Seriously. UConn SUCKS. Showed a little moxie in the one appearance I saw from him this spring. Won't find his way to Flushing in 2019, but 2020 is on the radar.
5. Looks like we have only three guys on the bench each week.
6. I kind of love that New Yorker cover, but Casey is tough to beat. I agree with batmags on the 1987. It did all start to seem very "same" around that point.
7. Yeah, fine. I'll throw him a point too. Edited my list.
8.
Yeah, I was just thinking about how David Wright had a better 2018 than deGrom
I'm sure David appreciates the Lifetime Achievement vote, but honestly...
9. I have no issue with any of these except the three-batter thing, which is exceptionally stupid.
10.
One thing that strikes you when you go down this list is how consistently terrible the ERAs were for almost every reliever. It's not likely any of the million guys who pitched for us last year will be invited to perform in such a land of opportunity again, and every one of them shit on the chance they had. Drew Smith and Bashlor were okay sometimes; and Peterson for a short while, but yikes. And of course even the guys who "didn't suck" sucked like Robles, Blevins and Ramos. I wanna blame Eiland or the bullpen coach or someone. The bad offense also, but it was like there was disease in the bullpen.
Totally. I was scanning the B-R page trying to find *something* to differentiate these guys, but every one of them pitched 15-20 innings with a 6.50 ERA. Crikey.
11. Here we go! deGrom Wheeler Nimmo Syndergaard Conforto Frazier Matz Cabrera McNeil Lugo Bautista Familia Gsellman Flores Rosario Plawecki Mesoraco Bruce Blevins Vargas Jackson Drew Smith Zamora Cespedes Gonzalez Bashlor Dom Smith Lagares Oswalt Wright Jeez, it got to be slim pickings once you hit the middle of that list.
12. We will look back in 2021 and say "he was in camp with the Mets? I have no recollection of that."
13. =41Forever post_id=4213 time=1552434551 user_id=69] Best. Hey Nineteen. Ever.
14. Syracuse for most of the season. 27 big-league AB scattered across the summer and fall.
15. 4.22 ERA in 68 innings out of the pen.
16. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I suppose it's not a bad problem to have but I don't get where he fits in. This. I don't see him making the team, but I'm not sure where he winds up. I'm going to say he declines to go to Syracuse and becomes a free agent after ST.
17. Wait, I remember doing this...?
18. As I posted on FB, between this and Trebek, it's a crushing reminder that all the things I loved growing up are getting very old, very quickly.
19. Syracuse, most of the year, with a few spot starts over the summer when we panic over a minor deGrom injury.
20. I like Frazier and was disappointed that last year felt like something of a flop, even though he was eighth on the team in WAR. I could see him going gangbusters, but at the same time, if this team struggles at all, he'll be in another uniform by the summer.
21. Benjamin Grimm wrote: At least now we know how to pronounce his name, thanks to G-Fafif. I *knew* it was pronounced Gfafif Familia! Also, pretty much what smg said.
22. .267/.319/.417 with 11 HR and 51 RBI in 126 games. Plays all around the infield, gets some big hits, does some DHing.
23. He'll get some innings mid-summer, but not enough to make a major impact.
24. =kcmets post_id=3836 time=1551812815 user_id=53] 149 G worth of all-star caliber #hey19 stuff.
25. It's odd that she'll continue to work for ESPN also, but if she has valuable insight, by all means, bring her on.
