1. Definitely a downgrade for you. Izzy's better than Looper, but not enough to offset the differences going the other way. Zambrano tops Loaiza, Pedro tops Maddux, and Manny is worlds better than Walker.
2. The pitcher is Orosco. Jesse pitched three years in Milwaukee; that's reasonably significant for his career path.
3. #2 is Dwight Bernard#4 is Bob GibsonSkip Lockwood: 24 wins as a Met, 28 as a Brewer = 52 wins, four shy of the record-holder. Good guess, but wrong.Lockwood does have the most losses (55 as a Brewer, 36 as a Met) in both uniforms, however. The guy with the most wins went 56-54 in both unis.
4. 1) Only six players in major league history have played exclusively for both the Mets and the Brewers (meaning they played for no other major league teams). Interestingly, all six are pitchers. Name them. I'll give you the years they pitched for both teams.#1) NYM 63-66, MIL 71#2) NYM 78-79, MIL 81-82 - Dwight Bernard#3) MIL 86-89, NYM 92 and 95#4) MIL 83-86, NYM 87 - Bob Gibson#5) MIL 73-74 and 76, NYM 78-80#6) NYM 89-90, MIL 90-912) Jeromy Burnitz has hit the most homers (165 as a Brewer, 53 as a Met) of all players who have played for both teams. Who has hit the second most?3) Who has the most wins (hint: 47 as a Met, 9 as a Brewer) of all pitchers who have pitched for both teams? (Hint: He's pitched for a lot of other teams as well.) Jesse Orosco

8. They signed Urdaneta a few weeks ago out of the Mexican League. It was noted here at that time that he is a holder of one of the single worst career major league pitching lines ever:0 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 6 R, 6 ER, 6 BFPSix batters, six baserunners, six runs. Ugly.In fact, JD was the one who posted the news, so it's funny that he's completely forgotten poor Lido.
9. A 47-page IGT?!? Wow. Them's some dedicated IGT junkies.edit: I picked a page at random and saw this:]Did anyone see Mandkfheopwif hit the ground when Hall pulled back the bunt and swung away. That's a new spelling for Mientkiewicz... I like that.
10. Is that Jack next to Mr. Met? I can't identify that one or the small-ball-headed creature between Bernie Brewer and Billy Marlin.
11. That Brad Clontz WP is my favorite personal Shea Stadium moment. The place was literally shaking. That was awesome.
12. Come on, Goggles Padilla!
13. ABG wrote:From the Happily Academic Questions Department: If you were Ned Yost, wouldn't you play your middle infielders back against Piazza?I briefly thought the same thing at the time, actually. But you can't do that; you can't assume the DP. You have to play them in to cut off the run on a slow roller, and if it's hit hard and right at someone, then you go home first -- Wright is the only guy that matters -- and then maybe try to get Piazza at first.
14. ="Frayed Knot"]Mr. Met gets all the hot chicks.I didn't know you felt that way about Ms. Rice.I like this one:It's kinda arty, kinda Mr.Met-looks-like-he's-going-to-eat-that-baseball. And who is that guy with the tiny Mr. Met head on (near the top of the post)... that is SO not Mr. Met.
15. YAY Jae Seo! We'll be there on Saturday, so that's much more promising.
16. Paul got back to me and said it would work. I took the image from metscollector.com; I can't take credit for the scan.So what might the piece be about? Catcher helmets? #42? Funny-looking sideburns? I vote helmets.

19. And Senor Reyes takes a strike tres cantado and el rally esta muerte. S'okay; s'tied up.
20. By the way, I love Ramon Castro. I like watching him out there; I feel like he's going to get big hits. I'm going to keep beating the Castro drum louder and louder.
21. YAAAAAY Marlon Anderson! Tied up!
22. Los David Wright goes Los KABOOM!!Love this kid.
23. Billy Hall takes a hit away from Cliff with an ESPY-worthy Web Gem in short center!
