  1. So now you have Orosco coming up. Probably very little chance a manager lets his closer hit in this spot in 2009. Do we remember Doug Sisk differently if Davey sends up Ed Hearn, the Mets don't score any more runs, and Sisk shuts down the Astros in the bottom of the 16th?
  2. How much can Jesse really have left? He threw two innings last night, and I know it's the playoffs, but you have to get somebody up here. Who else was in the pen, except Sid? Sisk?
  3. I forgot Yogi was an Astros coach.
  4. Someone remind me, when I burn this to DVD later... make sure I delete that whole "best shortstops of the decade" thing, start to finish. It made my eyeballs burn.
  5. That's a great play by Ray Knight. I actually expected McCarver to refer to it as "Jeter-like," though.
  6. Actually, I forgot Smith's spot was due up this inning. Considering he's their big gun, it makes sense that you give him three more outs, especially with no tomorrow, despite the wildness.
  7. Can we go get Clay Zapada? I'd ask one of our guys to grow a silly moustache, but then we'd just be copying him. I'd rather have the real thing.
  8. If I'm Roger McDowell, I politely decline Valadius's dinner invitation, then.
  9. Ah, dammit, Heep. Swung at ball four twice.
  10. 3-2 to Heep and Dave Smith is all over the place. COME ON, Danny.
  11. Come on, Danny. Take a strike here.

Irregular jutting that's a bit tougher to resolve in your periphery? I've seen a few LF/CF combos this past year-- home team included-- who seem to approach the edges of the wall recession with trepidation. our guys, when we actually have the same guys playing out there all year, will learn it. let the road team fear it. I agree with this. I like the jutting; could be beneficial, I think. Too soon to overreact.
  13. I agree with you; I'd love to see Todd Helton in the Hall of Fame. I'm just saying, objectively, that it's not going to happen. At least not right away. Maybe in 2019 when those writers have had more perspective, but not right away, and there's going to be all this outrage when he doesn't get elected right away, because they're not going to get close to 75%, and the thin air is what's going to dismiss lots of votes very quickly.
  14. OPS+ or not, Larry Walker -- and Todd Helton -- are cursed by the perception of Colorado. Unless you want to make some sort of mathematical model for HOF entry, there is virtually zero chance he gets 75% of the vote. The same way there's no way -- sorry, Rob Neyer, I don't care how many home runs he has -- Rafael Palmeiro will ever get 75%. McGwire and Bonds, a slim maybe; but definitely not Raffy.
  15. There is no way Larry Walker is a HOFer. Nice player, but he will not get enough votes.
  16. Lee Smith got more votes than Tim Raines. That's fucking insane.
  17. Pass.
