  2. I want to go to the game in May where they're giving out David Wright Starting Lineup figures. OLD SCHOOL, BABY.
  3. I'm kinda stunned that the MFYs -- who have resisted any sort of change -- would do this. Money talks, I guess.
  4. Are the full rosters all announced?
  5. I honestly wondered about that too at the time.
  6. Ooh, I love Vic's list each year. Movies I saw, in vague-ish order of preference: ZOOTOPIA ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY GHOSTBUSTERS FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS MOANA CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR SING
  7. Why DID I put Verrett so high? Revised, knocking #15 Verrett off and adding Harvey in at 30. 1. Syndergaard 2. Cespedes 3. deGrom 4. Cabrera 5. Walker 6. Granderson 7. Reed 8. Colon 9. Matz 10. Conforto 11. Reyes 12. Flores 13. Familia 14. Loney 15. d'Arnaud 16. Blevins 17. Lugo 18. Gsellman 19. Robles 20. TJ Rivera 21. Henderson 22. Johnson 23. DeAza 24. R Rivera 25. Bruce 26. Duda 27. Wright 28. Lagares 29. Salas 30. Harvey
  8. I believe they're brothers.
  9. Somehow simultaneously didn't get enough opportunities (only 267 PA!) and also got too many opportunities (267 PA?!), and delivered the worst season of his career. I expected more, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. I wish him well.

  11. I wish Maja would return my calls. I thought we had something special.
  12. It says something about the Marlins' short history that a historically average Tom Koehler 2017 season would place him solidly among the all-time Marlins pitching "leaders." If he hits his BR 162-game average this year, he finishes 2017 in sixth place in wins, second in losses, third in starts, fourth in IP, third in most hits allowed, third in most runs allowed, fifth in Ks.

He should have been on the ballot in 2011 (or 2012, I forget how they calculate the 5 year thingie). Was he? Later No. He never got consideration at all, which is so weird.
  14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Casey Blake. Played for the Indians I wanna say, and Dodgers. Played outfield and third base. Had a beard. Wore No. 1. A kind of second rate leadoff guy. I don't remember him as a leadoff guy. Remember him more as a Ty Wigginton/Travis Fryman type. Corner infielder, had some pop, probably struck out and grounded into double plays a lot. How he got on the ballot and Fonzie didn't is a mystery, the more I think about it.
  15. Good class. All good picks.
  16. Fman99 wrote: I figure a thread just for the latest Jay Bruce rumors seems to make sense. Nj.com (quoting the NY Post) saying maybe the Rangers and Giants have interest? I'd trade him for Lundqvist or Will Tye.
  17. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: btw we should do a cpf meetup game this season, or maybe a preseason drinking practice or something this year. Definitely. Enjoyed that last time. (Does anyone have the pic we took on the Shea Bridge? Did we even take a pic?)
  18. Centerfield wrote: Now if only I could figure out BG's connection to Beyonce. It involves the Latvians. I'd think you'd have known that.
  19. Would love to see Posada fail to crack 5%.
  20. Agree. If you have an asset that costs you nothing because he's suspended, you might as well go through the machinations. You never know if you'll get some return down the road.
  21. Edgy MD wrote: Should he advance someday to play for the big league team, he would be the first Met (and only the second big leaguer) born in Honduras. (Twenty cranebucks to whoever can name the first.) I'm excusing myself from this because I remember from my quiz the other day.
  22. Ashie62 wrote: I remember the other poster as Bretsabermetric. Ah, good old Sal Q.
  23. So we should keep Clemens out? Okay. SORRY SUCKA
  24. I'm coming around on the whole thing. Despite my vicious hatred for Roger Clemens, I feel like you have to put him in there. Bonds too. It's just not a representative Hall without them.
  25. Says the largest is 14x20, but doesn't indicate anything other than that. If it's really in that range, we should pool our money and buy the lot and distribute them among us.
