  1. It would appear all will have a chance to compete for the OF....If Hairston does sign I see him as a 400 AB type option so the rest would be competing for those other AB's and filling in left and center...
  2. Kinda like MTV...
  3. They must have liked him the first time to bring him back..
  4. Biggio is a class act with a very great resume.. I'm adding Piazza, Edgar Martinez, and Fred McGriff
  5. Is the 4th major sport Hockey or Soccer?

It would make little sense to dump our top prospects for a very very good outfielder if we are truly rebuilding. With the investment in Flores I would wait for him to develop and stick with the program. No sense in turning the ocean liner in midstream now. I'd like to have Stanton but it would take much of what Sandy has gathered.. I'm not big n D'Arnaud but if, say Marlins like say..D'Arnaud, Wheeler and Cecchini I would be all in...
  7. The guy has shown the ability to slug. Let him prove he is not Mike Jacobs. Nick Evans is still bouncing around and almost out of baseball..I would offer him a minor league deal. Line them up and catch lightning i seez.

I'm not saying Baxter is an AS-in-waiting... I'm just saying, that measuring stick has the distinct whiff of boo'stink. That he's had 260 PAs in parts of three seasons is a lot more indicative of the situations in which he found himself/what others thought of his ceiling/how hard he went into walls to preserve no-hitters than of his talent level or performance. Also, he's put up a .354 OBP in those PAs, and shown himself to be the best guy at not making outs in the current Met outfield. He's at worst a useful 5th OF, and maybe more, and that's virtually all that anybody here has said about him. Anyone for One year of Bobby Abreu for 7 million. I believe her is still out there.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, giving up the fantasy of Harvey and Wheeler at the top of the rotation is not something I'm ready to do, Giancarlo be damned. Flores is more or less close to ready to play in the bigs, although probably not ready to play well, but the Marlins have clearly cashed in the present. He doesn't have a position, but the Fish have to fill 'em all, so... . The Mets almost have to wait for Flores boom or bust... Stanton? Angels Dodgers or Marlins..
  10. Ceetar wrote: Don't sell Mike Baxter short. He's 28, was dumped by the Padres..Has 260 career AB's and a couple of HR's....so, really? He's a nice 5th OF.
  11. This is not anything like you describe...spam really.
  12. Dammit Janet! I have done the timewarp several times at a midnight showing.
  13. To facilitate the movement of her right arm and hand.
  14. They are headed to the Ryan's for dinner..
  15. How well run is professional soccer? I get confused with the multiple leagues...

  17. I wonder how some of these writers earn such a large audience. This guy is a douchenozzle.
  18. The Mets got real young real fast, possibly painfully so for this season... and so it will playout from here on.
  19. I have to admit the MFY's got the right Matsui...
  20. Oh dear God..help I guess theres not much left out there but thats a pretty rough mix....
  21. Mr. Met looks like he is running to God's waiting room on that thing.
  22. If doodoo is in LF is Nieuwenhuis in CF and RF to be determined? There's little chance Baxter starts in the OF for the bulk of the season I hope...Nothing personal Mike.
  23. OK, help me out please...who is the likely starting LF as of now?
  24. G-Fafif wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Was he the one who rushed the prep school wunderkind to the big leagues, desperate to move some turnstiles, prefacing a career-destroying injury? No, that was Bob Short, who moved the team from D.C. The pitcher was David Clyd. Short to Corbett to Eddie Chiles to Dubya to Hicks to Ryan. Interesting lineage. Didn't the A's rush Mike Morgan who hung around awhile?
  25. Hey! I got Crocs from the Mets for Christmas!
