  1. =roger_that post_id=116691 time=1673609774 user_id=128] Hey, second opinions cost money. You think the Mets have co-pay dollars just laying around? how much the two-time All-Star wanted to rejoin the Twins after spending the 2022 season with the organization. OK, I'll bite: how much? And why? I get it that $200 mill in hand is more than 157 mill in hand, but why would anyone want to play in a small-market with a much worse record and much less to spend than a megamarket coming off a 100-win season?
  2. Ceetar posted something interesting to Twitter that I had not read before (and I do not know what the source was) - that the doctor who made his determination for the Mets that questioned his long term viability was the same doctor the Giants used? And that they didn't get a second opinion? Seems kind of nutty to me if that's true and accurate.
  3. I was thinking of the precipitous decline of Albert Pujols over the length of that huge contract he signed to play in Anaheim. Certainly he was, for 3/4 of that deal, vastly overpaid. I am sad he won't be a 2023 Met. I'm not so sad that he won't be a 2034 Met though (at least, not on those terms).
  4. What if he's just some lucky bastard who gets to work for the Mets? That's my guess
  5. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: RH hitter, spare outfielder. Injury insurance, DH, probably better than Ruf I scooped Wilmer + Cookie's litterbox this morning. Its contents were better than Darin Ruf.
  6. Recycling this one from a past CPF song parody. Hey, hey, hey, hey Beat is gettin' stronger Music gettin' longer, too Music is a-flashin' me I want to, I want to, I want to take you higher I wanna take you higher Baby, baby, baby, light my fire I wanna take you higher Bob Apodaca daca Bob Apodaca daca boom
  7. Driving that train, high on cocaine Casey Stengel, better watch your speed Trouble ahead, trouble behind And you know that notion just crossed my mind
  8. Whups mah bad
  9. NY Post has him saying this at his Twins press conference today. Carlos Correa on ultimately choosing Twins over Mets: "I want to be a part of a team that doesn't buy championships," Correa told reporters in a surprise press conference where he made his announcement. "One team handing out all that money isn't good for the sport." Oh OK then
  10. Para bailar La Bamba Para bailar La Bamba Se necesito una poca de gracia Una poca de gracia Pa' mi, pa' ti, Juan Uribe, Uribe Y Uribe, y Uribe Por ti seré, por ti seré, por ti seré

  12. You just call out my name And you know, wherever I am I'll come runnin' To see you again Winter, spring, summer or fall All you have to do is call And I'll be there You've got Bob Friend
  13. Ah OK I messed up too then
  14. Someone post some positive messaging here. I'm more disappointed by this failure to sign him than I ever could have been had the rumor never surfaced to begin with. I'm hoping that this means we get an extended look at Brett Baty. I feel like letting him and Francisco Alvarez get lots of time at the 8-9 spots in the batting order help them to develop into home grown stars, you know, like every fucking Braves prospect that's stepped on the field in the last ten years.
  15. Once upon a time you dressed so fine Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn't you? People call say 'beware doll, you're bound to fall' You thought they were all kidding you You used to laugh about Darin Ruf always making so many outs Now you don't talk so loud Now you don't seem so proud About having to be scrounging your next meal
  16. Wow, I thought all along it was a lot of posturing and he'd be a Met. Shows you what I know.
  17. Y'all have to make the trip up here for some AAA Mets action. Side benefit: you'll recognize many more guys from the "Memories of..." threads. I remember Sam Clay. He looked like a guy who would drink with you at the Moon Tower.
  18. These are both excellent. But I'm voting for the Nimmo shot.
  19. Is he the guy who wore the giant hat ? OE: Was conflating him with Alex Torres
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Heyman, Post: Correa/NYM talks hit a "hiccup" leading Correa/Boras to be in contact with "at least one other team". I think this is a bluff, trying to put the pressure on Unkie Steve to get this deal locked down by releasing this info publicly. I think other teams that can't just print their own monopoly money aren't giving up the big bucks for Correa because of this leg thing anyway.
  21. Yeah I mean you gonna play hardball with him? He's Keith Fucking Hernandez
  22. When you run the Philadelphia Marathon, after 26.2 miles you get one of those bad boys and a cup of steaming hot chicken broth to dip it into. The race is always a cooler day, the last weekend before Thanksgiving, and that is one fine fine post race piece of nourishment.
  23. Another made up Met that I have zero recollection of
  24. =G-Fafif post_id=115960 time=1672776066 user_id=55] His season-ending home run on the last swing of 2019 clinched Dom a championship of the Mets fan's heart.

Beat that hot scoop, Jon Heyman. This is actual news. Or so I am telling myself.
