The last time that was true was 54 years ago. This concept is too antiquated for most folks to buy into.

I think even if he comes back to Flushing in 2023 it'd be on a new deal. I also think some other team backs up the truck and offers him a Scherzer-style contract, only for 4-5 years instead of 3, and that he chases the $ like they all do -
Bye bye Dodgers. Happy to see all the teams I hate most having their seasons end. Just waiting for the Guardians to salt away the MFYs now.

I am wallowing in stage 4, depression. I do expect to move on to stage 5 of the grieving process (acceptance) but it won't be this week. And you can bet your ass I'm not watching any more baseball this year. I hate all of the fans whose teams are still in contention.

Nimmo and Diaz are the most important guys for me to get back for 2023. Everyone else, even deGrom, well, if they come back, great, and if they don't, good luck to them in their next stops. I would think that the Mets do pick up Carrasco's option, given the likelihood that some combination of Walker, deGrom and Bassitt may not be back next year.
