  1. I do like the faster pace of games, though I'll admit that the radio broadcasters seem particularly rushed to be both anecdotal and timely in their game updates. They'll adjust too, I suppose.
  2. Someone should take that logo to NYP and give it gastric bypass surgery because it's bloated to an unhealthy size and no one wants to look at it.
  3. https://twitter.com/mets/status/1644092809920610304 It's not even that it's ghastly, which it is. It's that they're proud to announce it. I get it that they're proud partners, and why wouldn't you be. I'm sure they do amazing work at NYP. But they should not be proud that someone smeared a red polygon of shit on their classic blue and orange jerseys. That's the travesty.
  4. These patches should all be spots to sell Ipecac because they make me wanna retch
  5. Every year, upstate New York's biggest running road race is the Utica Boilermaker 15k, held the second Sunday each July in what's normally scorching heat. Me and all of my fittest, sweatiest friends get up at the dickcrack of dawn and schlep out to Utica (about an hour east of Syracuse) and run a 9.3 mile course through town to the cheering delight of the population of the city. It's an annual highlight for us on the running calendar and a very popular race (most years, between the 15k and 5k events, there are 15-17 thousand runners participating). The race always ends at Saranac Brewery, where live music, a military flyover, and free beer are flowing. The beer courtesy of the good folks at Saranac. In years past the free beer would be one of their newer IPAs, or some other craftier offering. But the past couple of summers, they have "rewarded" us with free Utica Club. It's almost like they want me to run 9 miles away from the brewery. This stuff tastes worse than an April sweep in Milwaukee.
  6. Sunny day rainouts are stupid.
  7. Man, fuck Jesse Winker
  8. =G-Fafif post_id=121473 time=1680709254 user_id=55] Right thumb inflammation, no structural damage, day-to-day for Baty.
  9. Trends from last fall and this spring combined don't mean much to me. Milwaukee's a pretty well known spot to launch a ball (though the Mets have missed that memo). I think the HR in Florida was mostly due to fatigue, having come in his last inning of work.
  10. I'm less optimistic than I was on Sunday
  11. They are all swinging for the fences in a very pre-Buck fashion. I'm not a fan
  12. Brett Baty was removed from Tuesday's game for Triple-A Syracuse with an apparent right hand injury. Michael Mayer of Metsmerized adds that a trainer came out to see Baty during his third-inning at-bat shortly after he was spotted shaking his right hand following a swing-and-miss. He wound up staying in the contest, but was pulled in the ensuing frame. There should be an update on his status sometime in the coming days. It's a tough break since he's gotten off to a phenomenal start this year at Triple-A Syracuse. SOURCE: Michael Mayer Apr 4, 2023, 3:43 PM ET Didn't make it out to the ballpark today, weather wasn't really conducive to it. I'll press my sources tomorrow for details though
  13. I think when 2023 wraps up you'll see a bunch of guys like Carrasco did yesterday - who never figure out how to adapt to the pitch clock. I'm not saying Cookie can't right it, only that there will be some dudes who never do. Once Verlander is back, the pressure mounts, assuming Megill and Peterson continue to look MLB ready and everyone else manages to not get hurt. This is Cookie's walk year and the Mets won't give him 31 more starts if he peters out in the middle innings repeatedly.
  14. Well poo 3-0 bad guys
  15. Lady serenades her fixed toilet and the marvel of video based handyman assistance, while the world cringes and dies inside.
  16. Hope opener Tuesday at 2 PM and another matinee Wed at 1 PM. Trying to figure out if I can wiggle out of work for a few hours to attend one of these, or possibly the Saturday game if it's not too chilly. My family will not join me for 50 degree baseball, I suspect.
  17. Carlos Carrasco making his 2023 debut. Start time 2:10 PM EDT
  18. Napped and missed most of Senga's game but happy with the outcome.
  19. Just waiting on Senga (today) and Verlander (hopefully soon) from this list
  20. More like Mets Luvin Big Shits
  21. Got 21 and must say that's a legit awesome MLB quiz
  22. =metirish post_id=121168 time=1680389731 user_id=72] =TransMonk post_id=121167 time=1680389666 user_id=71] Gary name-checking GAFIF on air…love it.
  23. It's not ghost! Kodai Senga makes his MLB debut against some lesser human
  24. Nasty pictures there by Ottavino on that last K
