  1. Thank God the Mets are going to be skinflints this winter and therefore there is no chance that THE HERO ends up in Flushing. I do love the pic in the Daily News of him in the different uniforms. Ol' George must be spinning around on his rotisserie right now.
  2. Edgy DC wrote: "I've loved everything about beng a Yankee, but I have my self-respect and I can't accept anything less than five years, $100 million." "Derek, our offer is on the table, it's final, and if you walk away from it, we're going give number two to the bushiest bush leaguer that stumbles out of the bush, and continually re-assign it to every scrub infielder we call up, in perpetuity. We're going to take this pile of money you're so insulted by and invest it in a real shortstop that will make fans regret every cheer they ever gave you." "Now guys, let's not get... I'm just trying to say..." "We'll release the internal documents that show how we've known all along how shit your range was, how we've carefully coordinated the spinning of your obvious limitations into graces, how Fat George's accounts had been paying off the Gold Glove voters for years." "It's just that a pay cut is..." "Have fun in Anaheim, jackass. We really hope they like that stupid jumpy-throwy thing." This post is so good, it has to be fattening.
  3. Oh, the hyperbole train keeps a rollin' thanks to our moronic friend Wally Matthews. Now, Jeter is the modern-day Babe Ruth, at least according to his agent (quoting the Yankees vaguely). Like the Babe, I have something stuck in my throat. Not a tumor, just a wad of Monday vomit. The article draws an interesting parallel, documenting the slowly decreasing salaries that Ruth and Mantle faced, pre-reserve clause. It doesn't apply here, now, but still. The radio hacks like Kay make it sound like it'd be an affront to Jeter to offer him less than the $18.9 mil per year he's averaged for the last 10 years.
  4. I like it. He's not retarded, so that's a bonus.
  5. Someone else on Twitter (I forget who) basically said the same, that Hale and Backman have been ruled out and it's going to be either Melvin or Collins.
  6. Good. Keep the boondoggle contracts coming (on that side of the river, anyway). They'll be paying him, A-Rod, and other assorted shuffleboarders long past their usefulness.
  7. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Two things I would like to add: Its tough, Halladay said. Felixs numbers are very, very impressive, but ultimately they look at how guys are able to win games. Who is "they" Roy? Actually, and thankfully, they don't, if the last two years' voting is an indication. Jews. He means Jews, the anti-Semite. I knew it! Never trust a guy with a big fluffy red neckbeard, the Malachai-from-Children-of-the-Corn-looking-muthafucka.
  8. HahnSolo wrote: "It was not real long" (no, I'm not setting up FMan) Well, you know what they say, it's not how long it is, it's how much pine tar you put on it. Wait, what?
  9. Of these four finalists I like Valentine the best. You know Alderson would hire the Managebot5000 if only it were ready for the big time.
  10. As a Met he'd just be another RH power hitter swallowed up by the abyss that is Citi Field (see Bay, Jason). His glove is a mess, too. If I want to watch a guy kick a ball around I'll check out a soccer game.
  11. seawolf17 wrote: I don't know. I went to a game with him last year, and he already seemed like a fully formed adult. I don't know that redevelopment is the answer. Nicely done.
  12. Willets Point wrote: Yep, they'll do it. And then they will hoist trophy #28. You heard it here first. Steve J. Willets
  13. C Yadier Molina Cardinals (3rd) 1B Albert Pujols Cardinals (2nd) 2B Brandon Phillips Reds (2nd) SS Troy Tulowitzki Rockies (1st) 3B Scott Rolen Reds (8th) OF Carlos Gonzalez Rockies (1st) OF Michael Bourn Astros (2nd) OF Shane Victorino Phillies (3rd) P Bronson Arroyo Reds (1st) Can we PLEASE stop selecting three centerfielders every year? This award is fuckin retarded.
  14. Wow, did Eric Chavez fall off the side of the Earth or what?
  15. Takahashi Rodriguez Parnell Acosta Feliciano
  16. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: A pity. Miller is just about the best ever. I hope he stays to do radio. Miller's regular gig is the radio of all SF Giants games, a job I'm sure he'll continue to hold. He's more tolerable on the radio, maybe it's because I can't see the gawd-awful pastel shirts he wears. Now Morgan, he just plain sucks.
  17. So far my favorite MLB development of the offseason: From twitter.com/espnbook, "ESPN Sources: Miller and Morgan will not be returning to Sunday Night Baseball. Morgan out @ ESPN; Miller out of TV; rest TBD."
  18. You'd think if they were going to cut Ollie or Luis loose it'd have happened by now. Not to say I won't continue to wish for these things to happen.
  19. Good luck, we can always find another Takahashi.
  20. Hotel room full of hookers, porn stars and blow. Duh.
  21. Rangers decline mutual option on Vlad Guerrero.
  22. Good stuff.
  23. Dave Magadan as 21st Century Met?
  24. He's on XM now, I listen to him on my drive home sometimes. He seemed happy without gloating about it.
  25. Get in line and get some soup and bread, you whiny fuck. It's going around, read a paper.
