  1. Missed this game in its entirety as Fboy and I were at the Dome to see Syracuse's football team go to 4-0 with a 51-21 drubbing of the UConn Huskies.
  2. Put it in the books!
  3. Gsellman with the gas. One out to go.
  4. I'm watching. I like when the Mets are winning, and I'll be sad in another 10 days when there are no more Mets games to watch.
  5. Centerfield wrote: I guess it depends on severity. "Early onset arthritis, done for the year" sounds serious. But Mickey's and Wilmer's comments sound like it's not that big of a deal. But like smg said, he was a non-tender candidate even before this. Maybe the only mitigating factor is that his two most likely replacements (TJ Rivera and Gavin Cecchini) were nowhere to be seen this year. And non-tender doesn't necessarily mean he's gone right? We can sign him for less? But man, this sucks. Absolutely love Wilmer Flores. It would be terrible if his Mets career just fizzled like that. I have psoriatic arthritis and I respond well to medications for it. I've run 14 marathons since my diagnosis. I don't think that it's necessarily a career-ender. I do wonder what kind of role, if any, he can carve out on this roster for 2019.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: As for creating drama with the schedule, I get no support (and Grimm hates it), but promotion and relegation is the answer. You won't ever see this in an American sport. The disparity in the size of cities makes this an unrealistic choice. Are you going to give Syracuse a MLB team and demote the Atlanta Braves to AAA? I don't think so. This only works in countries where people drive on the wrong side of the road, and wear hats on their feet and shoes on their heads.
  7. Eliminating the shift is stupid. Teach guys to bunt for singles. I think the split season is interesting, personally.
  8. That behind the back play by Matzie was some shit.
  9. Too bad they sucked for months 2,3 and 4, because they're clicking now.
  10. Vic Sage wrote: i hope #5 is the next number they retire, and they do it next year. I know this team is parsimonious about such honors but i can't imagine a better candidate. Our best position player ever, played his entire career here, was team captain and face of the organization. No, he won't get into MLB's HOF (nor should he, any more than Mattingly should, who had a similar career), but that can't continue to be the only criteria for number retirement. More likely it'll end up in the "unofficially" retired bin where #8 lives, not retired but also not issued. Which is a shame.
  11. I'll be away from home, that night, and not able to watch, as I'll be in a hotel in Bath, NY, and I can't imagine that the hotel will have WPIX which is airing the 9/29 game. I guess I'll just have to catch the audio broadcast instead.
  12. Sucky.
  13. Ceetar wrote: but not of their captain, for some reason. There's only one reason really. It's a big sack with a dollar sign on it. Classic cartoonish money stuff.
  14. Has Jeff McNeil not earned a shot? Why cockblock him with a 34 year old guy with shaky knees? That's some hella retarded GM'in.
  15. No posts from me (was doing a fantasy football draft) but watched it in its entirety. Good stuff.
  16. Trivia answer was Hundley, Piazza & Kent. I had to look it up this morning. Hundley had exactly 50 HRs as a Dodger.
  17. I went to bed just before they flushed this game down the crapper.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Three players who hit 50 homers as a Met and as a Dodger: PiazzaHundleyUm ... Eddie Murray? Straw was my guess, along with Piazza as the gimme.
  19. This is some good stuff. Nice blammo by Conforto against the lefty.
  20. Bruce is up to 5 HRs! That's painful.
  21. Seriously. I'm on the ropes. First pitch yet to be thrown.
  22. . [bigpurple:2b8v9r9i]NIMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOO![/bigpurple:2b8v9r9i]
  23. Impressively dug himself out of his own hole there, Lugo did. The Dodgers are a bunch of helmet throwing, yelling dickheads, I've also noticed.
  24. Oh, for fuck's sake.
  25. This would be a nice perk for the Mets to get deGrom a lead here while he's the pitcher of record.
