  2. No (likely) cheaty Peteys on my list. If you're jabbing someone in the ass with something you best be doing so on an adult content web site. Prince Fielder David Ortiz Todd Helton Andruw Jones Jeff Kent Scott Rolen Omar Vizquel
  3. I got all verklempt here reading that. Not ashamed to admit it. The guy frigging loves baseball. Who among us can't relate to that ?
  4. What about A-Rod ? Loves the Mets since way back. Played for Buck (on the '03 Rangers) Still involved in baseball. Sad and lonely since Ben Affleck started dorking his woman and needs a hobby to pass the time.
  5. What if it's actually a sentient monkey that was sent into space and then came back super intelligent? Don't tell me that wouldn't grab some headlines.
  6. Could any Mets fan associate Vince Coleman with anything besides the firecrackers?
  7. Stunk. Here in AAA town, too (12 for 83, a .145 batting average).
  8. =kcmets post_id=83894 time=1641047744 user_id=53] I haven't bought an article of Mets clothing in probably 7-8 years but I would proudly wear a tee shirt with that handsome logo on it. (added personal bonus, I too was Est. 1962)
  9. This would be the sensible time for me to finally watch it, now that there's a forced absence of all things baseball due to the shitfuckery of the lockout.
  10. =G-Fafif post_id=83802 time=1640816343 user_id=55] MLBN and the official team sites not showing and barely alluding to current players is, to use a technical term, fucked up, legalities or not. There is a hole in winter.
  11. I hat lockdowns.
  12. Brand new chrome license plate frames (front and back) to complement my new ride, a 2021 Mazda CX-5 that I purchased last month.
  13. Las Vegas ?
  14. cal sharpie wrote: I thought the exchange between George and John & Yoko where George says that he has a bunch of songs he wants to do and suggests that they do solo albums and then come back as the Beatles was exactly what they should have done. Paul's announcement that they were splitting wrecked that. Paul has recently said that he wished he knew about that conversation. John was never going to come back. I haven't watched this doc yet but I've read enough Beatles books to know that he was beyond done with the rest of them.
  15. I like it. Buck increases the Mets "old white guy" factor by several decibels.
  16. Drank shit-ass awful beer and pitched well.
  17. That'd be me, season opener, 1973 apparently.
  18. I just watched Moneyball on a flight this week. I was bored out of my skull. This won Oscar nominations? It's a turkey. Watching Brad Pitt smash things in a locker room and make that scrunched up constipated face is just not getting it done for me.
  19. I like the "Dealing" pose. That's quality photojournalism there.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: It was a little grieving that we'd listen to 21 breakdown takes of a song, and when they finally get to a take where the subtitle reads "This was the take used on the Album Let It Be, they cut the shot after a single verse. If they have the time for Ringo announcing his farts, surely they have enough time for the full final version of "I Me Mine" or "Two of Us." I had always had a disappointment that the rooftop concert featured no George Harrison songs, and John gets the lead and he and Billy Preston get the solos on "Get Back," leaving George's (high-quality) solo on "One After 909" as he only chance to shine in that concert. But the multiple takes in this version of the film really gave me a chance to appreciate the impressive non-solo leads George gets to contribute — sublimated but lovely stuff that really contributes to the essence of the songs. Technically there wasn't a full, final version of "I Me Mine" as they reused part of it to make it long enough to even count as a song. The most ironic thing is that the two GH compositions on "Let it Be" could never hang with all of the superior content on "All Things Must Pass," many of those songs having already been written (and rejected) by John & Paul.
  21. Great news and long overdue.
  22. The Hot Corner wrote: The Mets have been through numerous inexperienced managers (Randolph, Callaway, Beltran - sort of, and Rojas) over recent without much success to show for it. Their best seasons during the 21st century were under the experienced guidance of Bobby Valentine and Terri Collins. Yep this is what I keep coming back to.
