  12. Glavine beat Kenny Rogers to double digits by about an hour today. Speaking of the Gambler, he has now won 200 games, but has never tallied 20 in a season. Q: Who has the most career wins of any pitcher lacking a 20-win season?

  15. There have been dozens of father-son combinations in big league history, from the Adams (Bob and Mike) to the Youngs (Del and Del). Sometimes, they have shared teammates. See if you can identify the combinations who suited up alongside these players: Steve Carlton: father '65 Cardinals and son '86 ChiSox Rickey Henderson: father '87 MFY, son 2003 Dodgers Dwight Evans: father 75 Bosox, son 91 Orioles Bill Buckner father 69 Dodgers, son 1982 Cubs Grant Jackson: father 67 Phillies, son 1981 Expos
  16. From Sunday's SF Chronicle... http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2006/06/18/SPGTMJG0NT1.DTL In another article John Shea suggests that "The A's could make a dramatic offensive improvement by trading Barry Zito, which we're told is a possibility. GM Billy Beane still adores Lastings Milledge, who has done some questionable things with the Mets that might suddenly make him tradeable. The A's farm system is thin in outielders." FWIW, Shea is pushing hard for EITHER the A's or Giants to acquire Soriano, with the former moving him to 2b and the latter grooming him as a replacement for Bonds/Alou.

  22. Mug Shot observations: Somebody get Tejada and Rogers some coffee (leaded, preferably) Chris Britton looks like he should be pitching hay, not baseballs. All he needs is a set of denim coveralls. No Anna? For shame.
  23. Lance Johnson, Willie Mays and George Brett also qualify as postwar.
  24. A series loss here might be GOOD. Non-divisional opponent (hell, non-league, so the effect is mitigated) and it would prevent the Mets from the big-headedness so prevalent around these parts.
