  3. myers was drafted in 82, so he, like gooden, doesn't count.
  4. quick, before i'm done looking up hte answer. name the 11 pitchers the mets have drafted in the last 30 years that have more wins as mets than matt harvey (7). no cheating if you've already looked it up as a result of the discussion in the harvey thread.

I was wondering about your Minky guess, and whether you were just fucking with me. he actually turned out to be a better guess than i thought. he had a high of 39 doubles, more than many, many other guys guessed. only keith (48), alomar (43), jeffries(40), mays (43) and green (49) top him.

  11. shoot, i must've blinked... anywho, i kindof liked it, although at times it felt a bit too much art-direction-by-thomas-kincade fakey-fakey. i saw it in 3d, and im not sure that it made anything better. imo, the 3d actually made the visual effects look more effect-y and fakey, and not in a good "we're doing it like this for artistic reasons" way but rather "we're not good enough to make this look less fake." the opening snowfall ruined me, i think.
  12. boB ojedA boB apodacA boB aspromontE braD emauS dukE snideR elviN ramireZ nelfi zapata needs to make the jump from a ball... keep this thing rolling. of course, he's another dead end. the first letter of the next batter's first and last name is the same as the last letter of the prior batter's first and last name.
  13. elvin ramirez, with whom the sequence ends (for now)
  14. i'm fairly certain i've never read the book. (there's a thread related to this type of thing, isn't there?) but i'll be seeing the movie tonight.

  17. versus plant-and-throw, the jump throw looks to take an extra step longer, while making the throw itself longer, all while taking the fielder's momentum away from the throw, resulting in an expected lower throw velocity. about the only good thing the jump throw does is keep the ball in the air longer so that a weaker throw has a more favorable terminal ballistic profile. easier to catch and less likely to skip under a glove if it does come short. i'd love to see a real kinematics/biomechanics study on it.
  18. Harvey 6.0 Parnell 1.9 Baxter 1.4 Davis 0.7 harvey six point nine without the limit.

  21. lets not leave parnell hanging for preserving the shutout in the tenth last night. a reliever can't do much more than come into a tie game in extra innings, surrender nothing and record two k's.
  22. Screw Jeffy for designing a baseball stadium that's not at all conducive to runni g a 5k throught the damned field. Though I do think its a bit possible to run in the opposite way they route people for the kids run. Come in through that tunnel, then hang a right and finish next to the dugout. It'd be tight and twisty and less than ideal but totally worth it.
  23. fine. harrumph. john franco for his infamously wobbly noggin.
