young/lagares/byrd/duda is a hell of a lot better than whatever the hell it was that bobby vee was rolling out every day in '99 and '00. for whatever much comparative value that is worth.

Anthony Recker: a passable catcher who doesn't play elsewhere to our knowledge... does not anthony recker play in your heart?

The remainder of the players and teams have been informed of their upcoming suspensions which will apparently be announced on Friday. it just occurred to me... if arod is only suspended and not banned for life, even though he's not getting paid, his salary should still count against the mfy payroll, shouldn't it? or is that calculated based on dollars paid not dollars contractually obligated?

on the 7/26 game, i had harvey down for 7.4 schaefers, but, of course, had to tamp him down to fit under hte limit. buck was the greatest beneficiary, seeing his total boosted from 1.0 to 1.6 schaefers.

Voting for all four games played over the weekend in Washington will close on Wednesday afternoon, some time after 2 p.m. The games from July 27 and 28 are still particularly low on votes. Schaefer POTG, 7/26/2013 (D): Mets 11 Nationals 0 Schaefer POTG 7/26/13, Game 2 - Nationals 2, Mets 1 Schaefer POTG 7/27/13 - Nationals 4, Mets 1 Schaefer POTG 7/28/13 - Nationals 14, Mets 1 votes will be in in, like 5 minutes!

pujols is still owed $212M after this year. someone needs to do a really intensive look at the actual return on investment of major league free agents. i'm sure its been done every year at fangraphs, actually. but i don't have it, and now want to see it. so somebody should do it for me.

But the MFYs are so desperate to extract themselves from the contract its palpable. I am sort of rooting for Arod to make things difficult for the MFYs. Sort of? I am flat out rooting blatantly for ARod. I just tattooed ARod's lawyer's face on my boob*. *the one that doesn't have Matt Kemp's grandmother on it. jeez, how could you not blatantly root for arod here? (hell, i just tattooed arod's boob on my face! i'm in it to win it!) the alternative is for hte yankees to get off scot-free on one of the worst signings in the history of baseball (second, unfortunately, to pujols). i don't think the teams should have a get out of jail free card when one of their players gets suspended for ped use. otherwise, i think very soon, you're going to see arte moreno spiking pujols' gatorade.
