  1. i think span is a risk worth taking, provided the price is right.
  2. put me down in the "i hope they get denard span" category. i think he's a great fit with the way the team is built, and would form an effective 4-man rotation with grandy, lagares, and conforto. i am not relying on, and am hoping hte mets also do not rely upon, michael cuddyer being a significant outfield presence next season, unless disaster strikes. and i really don't want that disaster to be "the offseason".
  3. psst, arbitrate, you guys!
  4. the good folks over at fangraphs have crowdsourced the free agent market, as they tend to do. daniel murphy comes in ranked 18th in terms of projected total contract value, with a median of 4 years, $48M, (crowdsourced average of 3.7 years at $12.6M)
  5. i like murphy. i like that he's a consistent hitter - a "professional hitter" if you will. i like that he's versatile - trying the outfield though he came up as a 3b. then finally, improbably, sticking at second. all with a side order of being probably our best backups at 3b and 1b. i like that he tries really hard in the field - sometimes trying too hard and making mistakes. i like that he tries really hard on the basepaths - sometimes trying too hard and making mistakes. i'd like to see him come back. i really would. but not for 5 years, and not for 4 years. i give him 3 years at $40M, and if another team is willing to over pay for him, i thank him most gratefully for his service.
  6. the "what do we do with cuddyer" question should be the least of the reasons not to resign cespedes. we do with cuddyer what we should do with him no matter who we bring in. he sits. i mean, we're not moving conforto, or grandy into centerfield are we? so since he's going to be a corner outfielder bench player, and reserve 1b, no matter what happens, it should have no bearing on wether we bring back cespedes or any other potential centerfielder. at least lagares can bring plus-level defense once he gets his arm fixed up.

But I think that as a strategy against unhittable opposition pitching, like kc's bullpen, it's the one to go to. Especially for all of our damned hitters that were ice cold. Earlier this series, Duda was hitting well, and against the shift. Today, he was trying to end the game each time out. Except when he got the rib sac fly. In extras... Sheesh. Everybody trying to end it in one go.
  8. Swing for fences bad. Swinging for hits good. Swinging with a non-functional knee preposterous
  9. way to win the World Series on a bad strike call. Jerks. Holy fuck, what a goddamn close series. An entertaining run - albeit an ultimately frustrating run. The players who seemingly cost us the most this series (Murphy, cespedes) are the two most directly responsible for getting us here. So, I guess, it is what it is. Congratulations royals. You motherfuckers.
  10. Maybe Wade Davis is one of those closers doesn't perform well when it's not a save situation I need something to cling to, is what I'm sayin'
  11. For me, so far, the biggest Takeaway of this whole series, is that the Mets of been swinging for the fences ,and the Royals been swinging for hits
  12. A decent throw gets him easy. Ugh One fucking run. One fucking run. Let's fucking get it goddamn done!
  13. Grumble missed opportunity grumble grumble
  14. Could they not have had cespedes take a practice swing?
  15. minimm has been staying up to watch the first innings of these games so far. it appears to be a proximal factor, but i hope to disprove it tomorrow.
  16. The fuck? They stopped the fucking game because the broadcast feed went out?! The only thing more embarrassing was the studio crew. Well, at least we have a competent crew doing the game now. Let's hope fix stays out of commission.
  17. it'll be either harvey or degrom, both likely 2-win pitchers. i'm picking degrom since somebody already said harvey. also because if it gets to game 6 for degrom to win it, then there likely won't've been an offensive player mashing it up (my money's on duda).
  18. Hello, Little Person! How are you today? Is you mood quite terrific or only okay? Are you happy as a hippo? Or angry as a duck? Maybe sad as a chicken? (Can you sadly say CLUCK CLUCK?) Are yougrumpy as a moose? Or excited as a dog? Worried as a rabbit? Contented as a frog? Perhaps, like a pig, you are sweetly amused. Or perhaps, like a cow, youre completely confused. You might feel that, somehow, youve lost all your fizz. Or youre frazzled like a umfrazzled thing. (Im not sure what it is.) Well, I hope you are happy. But if you are not, you have friends who will help you. We all like you a lot. And a difficult mood is not here to stay. Everyones moods will change day to day. Unless youre that duck. Hes always this way. don't be that duck. lets go mets!
  19. Daniel Murphy doesn't always hit home runs, but when he does its in six consecutive games in the postseason
  20. Also, golly, Bryant has some pop!
  21. Mur-phy-P!!! Mur-phy-P!!! Mur-phy-P!!! Mur-phy-P!!!
