1. Well, that's a gut punch. Cutting and pasting with Robertson and Ottavino is probably where they go. Some other bullpenny types are going to have to step up.
2. =stevejrogers post_id=119828 time=1678890413 user_id=57] Haven't seen any games yet, but the fact that the campaign is still running has me going down some rabbit holes
3. Fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuck. Also, fuck. The one guy they simply cannot afford to lose for any period of time.
4. The knock on Rodon has always been that he's a bit brittle. Stayed healthy for a while, got the big contract and now...shazam!
5. Cool, I'll be getting a Francisco Lindor Chia Bobblehead!
6. 12-8, 3.00 ERA. Will miss a portion of the season, hopefully not the end of it.
7. I think he's going to be babied, because, well, he's 40. So I think he'll be something like 12-6, 3.30 . The important thing is that he's ready for the postseason.
8. Going to Surprise, AZ tonight to watch the Dodgers and Royals. Was in Mesa yesterday to see Royals/A's and we were right behind home plate. AZ spring training has a more laid-back feel to it than FL does. Also seeing the Metsies in DC with Lefty Jr and taking a road trip to see them in Pittsburgh in June. Needed to add PNC Park to the list of stadiums we have visited.....
9. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=118974 time=1677556193 user_id=68] If there's any competition, it's to see which ticket provider can deliver the most money to MLB.
10. Yeah, having it happen in precisely the way it did was a HUGE lesson for players. I also loved Scherzer's cat-and-mouse game getting the hitter to step out, then holding the ball for a long time as the batter gets more and more uncomfortable in the box.
11. Yeah, Machado's a good player when he feels like it. Not so sure he's gonna feel like it at 41. But it's their money.
12. Seeing that makes me glad Chris Bassitt is no longer pitching for the Mets.
13. He helped make the 80's fun. He meshed well with Ralph and Steve Zabriskie. He really did have that knack for calling what would happen before it did. He started to decline in the 90's, and he became repetitive, hammering on one theme to the point of annoyance. I fell into and out of love with him. But he was the voice of summer for a long time. RIP, Timmy.
14. Lol at the Chinese balloon over Stockholm. Maja's desk is on my bucket list, dead Ratpackers be damned.
15. Our long national nightmare is over. Whew.
16. I'm guessing that Pete Alonso has a better chance of playing center field this year than Khalil Lee does.
17. If the parking lot is replaced by a parking deck, that'll be the last time I ever drive to Citi.
18. Not as good as the old Mr. Met commercials.
19. 'Entertainment complex' is just a fancy phrase for 'Casino'.
20. 'Misery' encapsulates the way I felt that night. Utter failure of both hitting and pitching in the biggest moment of the season.
21. He hit his dinger and he hung 'em up. His Mets duds, anyway.
22. One of my favorites from many moons ago now. I had read in the Sunday paper (remember those?) that the final piece of The Ol' Girl was going down that Monday so we took a ride out for a final farewell. https://thecranepool.net/images/SheaGoodbye.png> Me and Lefty Jr were there that day too. Sunday, January 31st, 2009. It was cold as hell but there was a nice crowd considering. Jr decided to clamber on top of a debris pile and start singing 'Meet the Mets' and the crowd joined in. A photographer from the Times was there and took this pic. The concerned-looking guy in the back right with the wool cap is yours truly. I was afraid he was going to faceplant into the parking lot. But he didn't. https://imgpile.com/images/dXq7DM.png> The photographer said, "If we don't use the picture in the paper I'll e-mail it to you." And sure enough, he did. The next day there was a nice little article in the Times about the farewell, and there were the two of us on the debris pile, only this time viewed from behind with the last bits of the stadium still standing. Still have the clipping. https://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/01/nyregion/01shea.htmlhttps://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/01/nyregion/01shea.html
