  1. Ya know, David, Wilmer Flores isn't going to take your job. Make sure you're healed first. They can finish fourth without you.
  2. There's crap on the FA market anyway. 2014 isn't an ideal time to spend.
  3. Poop.
  4. So I'm thinking this whole Dice-K thing may not end well.
  5. Well, ten years from now he'll be part of a trivia question about how many Japanese players toiled for the Mets. I'm betting he'll be the last one named, and everybody will say, "Ohhhh yeah, I forgot he played for them".
  6. Mrs. Met shakin' her booty. She keeps that up, Mr. Met will be firing off more than just T-shirts.....
  7. I was against re-signing Byrd for a long time, but considering the dearth of outfield talent in the near-term pipeline, I wouldn't be against re-upping him for another year. Even two if it wasn't expensive.
  8. I'd forgotten that on every follow-through, it always looked like Swan was going to trip and fall. Not exactly classic pitching form. Nice to hear Bob and Ralph in mid-career form, even if the team sucked. Hooked up the HDMI cable to the laptop and watched a few innings on the big TV. Good stuff.
  9. You'd need an eye in the press box and a way to communicate with the manager. The dugout is a lousy place to view a play. Would they throw out a red challenge flag? The big concern is that it'll make games, already too long, even longer.
  10. It's pretty rare not to get a nice bump in arbitration, no matter how badly you did. He's got non-tender written all over him. Let him annoy some other hitting coach.
  11. Was at work in the city when everything went dead. The office went eerily quiet without the hum of airconditioning or computers. Then suddenly there was a series of loud noises...'BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!' as the electromagnetically held-open fire doors slammed shut on every floor of a 12-story building. Scared the living bejesus out of me. Yes, in those days, the first thing you thought was 'Uh-oh, terror' but it was quickly pretty obvious from the news that it was no such thing. On the street in Manhattan there was a bit of a party atmosphere, with amateurs directing traffic at stop lights. Then spent 4 hours crushed in a small Lexus with 6 other people trying to get through the Holland Tunnel to Jersey. Since the automated air circulation was off line, only a few cars could go through at a time to prevent carbon monoxide from building up. Fun times.
  12. "I'll be fine, guys. I have a supermodel to comfort me."
  13. As much as I hate the chop shops, this whole thing has been completely sleazy from the git-go.
  14. If he's really 26, sign his ass immediately. Trade Ike for a beer pong table to be named later.
  15. Stabilized the outfield defensively, for which I'm grateful. But not much of a help offensively, especially in the leadoff position. Unfortunately, there's nobody better suited right now. I wouldn't exactly kill myself trying to re-sign him over the winter.
  16. The words 'small sample size' come to mind.
  17. Perhaps he should request that his teammates score some goddamn runs for him once in a while.

  19. Just an awful announcer. To listen to him on MLB Extra innings is to appreciate just how flat-out lucky we are that we get to listen to Gary, Keith and Ron instead.
  20. Schwinden? Is he even alive?
