  1. This has been rumored for years. Face it- the Yankees are a lot more desirable than the Mets from a business perspective. The FAN and WCBS are both owned by the same company. WCBS is a news station, and it's awkward to put the news on hold for four hours while you broadcast the Yanks playing the Houston Astros or some such. So for CBS, it's maximizing value. Remember, the Mets were wandering nomads on the AM dial until the FAN came along. I remember being very little and listening them to WJRZ, a crappy country music station where the signal would fade in and out after dark. Sometimes I'd wake up to Hank Williams or Conway Twitty in the morning. This may explain my life-long aversion to country music.
  2. Here's a dead ringer. He's a security guy at Brooklyn Cyclones games. I did a triple take when I saw him, and had to snap a picture.
  3. So the rest of the roster is playing for free? Montgomery Wilpon says, "Exxxxxcellent!!!!!!"

  5. Little late to the party. Hey, wonder what Victor Zambrano is doing tonight? Stocking shelves at Safeway?
  6. Very leery about someone who pitches well for a long period, then his stats nosedive. He won't be looking for fifth-starter money, that's for sure. There will be plenty of other pitchers who'll be able to fill that slot for a fraction of Lincecum's price. And yes, the need is for offense.
  7. You know, 80% of Jose Reyes is three times better than Tejada/Quintanilla. If he's available, I would welcome him back with open arms, even if he scooted on the last day in 2011. We've seen how he can electrify an offense. We've also seen what the lack of an OBP/Speed guy at the top of the order can do. I guess I wasn't as put out as some when he came out of the game the last day. Had he re-upped, people would have forgotten all about it.
  8. I like Murph, but I think his value is about at its max right now. If he can be flipped for an outfielder with pop, I do it. I'm not sold on Flores, but 2nd base is the only place he can play going forward. I like EY as the swing man 2B/4th OF, kind of a Joe McEwing with speed. It's just painful watching this team try to score runs right now. Sandy needs to find a way to turn a lot of our chicken feathers into chicken salad. If you put Satin, Davis and Duda together, you'd have a decent first baseman. Davis plays defense but can't hit. Duda has power but no average. Satin has average but no power. A real first baseman is a must.
  9. Um, no. Morneau is on the downside, has been injured and the Mets don't have a DH position available. Lincecum? Oy gevalt. Run away. And that bullpen is no better than this year's bullpen, which you may have noticed is not very good. I'm okay with EY playing 2nd and Choo in left, although they'd probably overpay. I'm not okay with Tejada at short. I want something better. This is still nowhere near the offensive upside they need to be competitive.
  10. That was the first IGT I ever started. I should probably quit with my 1.000 winning percentage intact.

  12. Yeah, the Marlins backloaded it, got his cheapest season, then dumped the contract on the Jays. Exactly what they did with Carlos Delgado.
  13. Need those tack-on runs that always seem to be scored by other teams.
  14. Brown Doodoo home runs. Even Gee has an RBI. Braves must have slept late, too.
  15. I like starting an IGT when they already have a 5-0 lead. I take full credit. You're welcome.
  16. Jays will never eat enough money to get it down to $8 mil a year. They got it down to $12 mil a year I'd do it. I think Jose would be energized being back in NY. He didn't sign up for Toronto, and I bet he hates that Astroturf. There's no shortstop in the system, so if they offered, I'd listen.
  17. Are the Mets holding open tryouts at this point? I can probably give them an inning or two. I can't be any worse than Dice-K, can I? I mean, I have a certificate from Veterans Stadium that I hit 61 on their speed gun some time in the mid-1990's. And hey, that was without warming up. Sandy, call me on my cell, bubbela.
  18. Keith looking like he'd rather have a root canal than wear an Indians uniform.
  19. Guessing Harang will be filling that soon-to-be-open Matsuzaka spot in the rotation.
  20. Everybody makes mistakes occasionally.
  21. Hey, this is fun. They should do it more often.
  22. The game was on MLB Network, and it was nice to see the Pirates with a full house and the stadium rocking. They've had to endure a lot of crappy baseball for the past 20 years.
  23. 24's a little old to be playing in the Florida State league, innit?
  24. Victor Black ?@Vic_Black_2 20 Aug I love how baseball embodies traits of Christianity... Hope for tomorrow and redemption from the past. #GetItTomorrow I'm guessing Vic's faith is going to be tested soon.
