  1. Did the Yankees even have a catcher last year? I can't remember.
  2. Well, if I had Leila in the passenger seat, I wouldn't care if they were FARTING goats.
  3. The most rational thing Canseco's ever done. I mean, nobody wants goat poop in their car, amirite? But seriously, this guy's a complete screwup and he STILL gets models for girlfriends? Where did I go wrong? Should I be a goat herder?
  4. Dunno, I have a hard time getting excited about a career .235 hitter who hit .200 last year with a .280 obp, no matter how fast he is.
  5. Can we just skip 2014 and go straight to 2015?
  6. You go the Melky Cabrera route. You admit wrongdoing immediately, apologize to your teammates and you take your punishment without whining even a little tiny bit. He could have fought his suspension but didn't. After his suspension was over, he was eligible to return for the postseason, the Giants said no, and he again accepted it and kept his mouth shut. If you're caught, don't act like an asshole. It's fairly simple.
  7. The thing about all of this is that there's absolutely no real indication that Braun's even available. This is an article citing Matt Cerrone talking to 'people familiar with the team's thinking', which could be Bernie Brewer for all we know.
  8. As far as Syndergaard goes, I'm sure hoping 'off-limits' really means 'off limits', not 'we're saying he's off-limits to drive up his eventual trade value'.
  9. He had a father who was detatched and uncaring in Cecil Fielder. Prince has gone out of his way (he says) to put his family first, over hitting a baseball for a living. So his detatchment from playoff losses may come from that area. My dime-store psychoanalysis, for what it's worth. And yes, I DID stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
  10. Wonder if that interview with Mike F was planned, too... "Mike, I'll be throwing a hissy-fit for the ages and I'll talking to you about 10 minutes later. Make sure your schedule is clear."
  11. Even his pocket square has been juicing.
  12. Well, if the Wilpons are looking for character guys, there's no one better than the guy who cost a UPS guy his job with his lying about taking steroids. 'No' is such a wholly inadequate word.
  13. Just aside from the ridiculous money he's asking for, Cano can be a really indifferent player at times. Sometimes it just doesn't seem like he makes the effort to go after balls that might be hard to get to. Dunno, just my opinion after watching him sporadically on the Yankee Pravda Network. I'm not worried about the Mets getting him; Fred would probably soil his Depends if they actually started talking about real money.
  14. Coulda been Jay-H.
  15. Just one thing....he won't be getting #24.
  16. I'm hoping this is just the Wilpons playing 'poke a stick in their eye' with the Yankees. They should under no circumstances be serious players for Cano.
  17. Diner owners in the tri-state area would be happy. Me, not so much.
  18. Boy, that's a lot of geezer money for the Phils. What if they can't stay awake for all the night games or someone steals their dentures? Is it harder to pick up a curveball with bifocals?
  19. At the end, Maloney looked like he could use about a case of these.
  20. Boy, I could go for a Hamm's in a seamless all aluminum can right now.
  21. Looks like another winter of shopping in the clearance aisle, hoping one or two has a Marlon Byrd-type breakout. Next year is about getting the kids their reps and figuring out how to structure the team in 2015. I'd be shocked if they did something major because the minute Harvey went under the knife plans should have changed.
  22. Baumer held the position of statistical analyst with the Mets from 2004 to 2012, and is currently a professor of mathematics and statistics at Smith College. Oh yeah? Then how do you explain blowing a 7 1/2 game lead with 17 to play, smart guy?
  23. In any group, you've got those who love you, those who hate you and those who are undecided. The key to leadership is to keep the ones who hate you away from those who are undecided. ? Casey Stengel
  24. I have a sportsbag that they gave away in '89 which said '#1 since '84'. It referred to the fact that the Mets had won the most games in MLB from 1984 to 1988, but I always thought that was a weird and arbitrary stat to put on a duffle bag, kind of like '#1 on Friday nights!' Maybe Sandy has one of those bags.
