  1. I'm thankful for 10 PM starts. Gives me an excuse not to watch.
  2. Akeel Morris found this out the hard way.
  3. Dilson Herrera is kind of comparable. He'd only had 61 games above A ball when they called him up straight from AA, and while there were bright spots, mostly he struggled. Struggled even more this year (.195). He's only 21 and has plenty of time to develop yet, but you can't help but wonder if he's been derailed a bit.
  4. I've not been a big proponent of Wally to this point, but this team has been so lackadaisical that SOMEBODY needs to kick their ass. (Besides the other team, that is.)
  5. I think a lot depends on Wright's health, both long- and short-term. He starts playing in simulated games by the end of July, Murph's gone. If there's no progress, Murph stays till the end of the year. I don't think they'll give him a QO, though. They'll probably try a Cuddyer-like deal (2/20) and if he balks, he walks. Understand that he's a guy without a position who hits fairly well but with no power, not a lot of walks and is prone to brain farts both offensively and defensively. The demand for him may not be as big as you might think.
  6. Really. Turner never showed he was that fantastic with the Mets, and lord knows he had his chances.
  7. God, I don't think I can bear to follow on Gamecast. I might do damage to my computer.
  8. Kevin Long needs a public shaming or something. Hey! A double play actually turned!
  9. Boy, this team is just brutal to watch right now.
  10. Conforto started out on fire in AA, then went into a slump. They're adjusting to him and he is working on adjusting back. I'd like to see him at least get a few reps at AAA first before throwing him in the fire.
  11. No Conforto. He's still adjusting to AA pitching. Simply not ready yet. There is a guy already on the payroll who has played some outfield.....
  12. Bat Matz 4th and put him in left.
  13. Send him to LA to comfort David Wright. At least that'd be useful.
  14. I'd be happy with .500 in that stretch, but I fear it'll be far worse, with 4 of the 6 series being on the road. If they're still in contact with the Nats by that point, things could get interesting.
  15. I was like, "Yeah, yeah, big deal". Then I saw the couch cushion. That's impressive.
  16. Grandy's got to be moved down in the order. By the time they do it, though, he'll be ice-cold again.
  17. Parra's the only one I'd be remotely interested in.
  18. Really getting tired of this not-scoring-runs thing.
  19. Just. No. Margin. For. Error. With. This. Team.
  20. Keith said his pitch recognition is poor. Cueto beat him with changeups all night, until he finally laid off them and walked. I said 'hiding an injury' because that seems to be a Metly rite of passage. I said 'plagued by self-doubt' because it appeals to the Existenialist in me. And I said 'needs two or more days off', because he really does look beat.
  21. Frayed Knot wrote: WHYYYY is Noah out after only 89 pitches? The obvious answer is that you already know the answer: he's out because the inning says it's time to take him out and no manager wants to be second-guessed on that move. I suspect if you were to ask a manager why he'd give you an answer along the lines of not wanting to allow three tough hitters like Votto, Frazier, & Bruce to get swings against a 4th look at the same pitcher when just one swing can kill the lead. Whether you choose to believe that or not is certainly up to you. Wow. That was exactly what Terry said in the post-game, almost word for word.
